I really love the Hal Leonard Book/CD lessons... the CD music is really enjoyble to play along with and the text is straight to the point and very useful...

Music theory helps you communicate with other musicians, it's basically a language. Understanding music theory will not tell you what note to play but it will tell you what your options are.

If you're looking for a good book/CD package I highly recommend the "Blues You Can Use" series by John Ganapes.

tell us a bit about the book c/d please. is it pretty easy to understand?
does he skip anything in your opinion? does the lessons leave you with
question w/o answers?

interesting lecture you wrote there, well done! Yeah i get what your saying, i think i'll pass for now, until the time comes....

lol please dont look at it as a lecture.
im just speaking from personal experiences.
man if i had the opportunities again that ive had before.
not knowing some theory has cost me plenty,
opportunities i'll never have again.
dont wait, at least learn some as you go.
dont wait like i did, for a couple decades, then realize
ya missed something. its almost like starting all over again.

ive found the book!

theory for the contemporary guitarist.
by guy capuzzo.

man this book is everything im missing. perfect.
its written very well and super easy to understand.
it CANT get any easier than this.
theres even little tests along the way to check your progress.
theres two books after this one in the mini series.
found it at barnes&nobel book store.
if your a little behind in theory like i am, or havent even started,
this book is worth its weight in gold.

Cheers - C

You did?! I don't remember posting any videos of me playing. :D
I must have been drunk. No, kidding, I don't drink!
I might as well post some videos! With a band I'm planning on putting together.

Thanks for the advertising Ceri!
I'm glad I could help!

Sure you did.

...Didn't you?

Has the Ceri memory finally malfunctioned? Apologies if I have that wrong. If you are not excellent after all - why then I have mislead the world!

I'd take the compliment and run with it if I were you. :D

Anyway. It's a good theory thread. That much we know for sure! 8)

Cheers man - C

No, I didn't post anything of me playing. :D
But, now I feel obligated to. Just wait until I make my new band. I'm working on it.

Who said I wasn't exellent!? You'll get the chance to hear my playing. 8)

Hey, I'm taking the compliment and am trying to run with it!

Too many "thank yous" today, so "Gracias" for your kind words about my thread! Oh, yeah, and in Serbian "Hvala!"
