has anyone tried the Dunlop 535q (or whatever it's called) Crybaby?....Supposedly you can shape your wah to your personal requirements.

I use it. It's awesome. It's like having a bunch of wah pedals in one. You can shape its sound to your preference.
I have a 535Q and it's Great. It's a little hard to see the adjustments in the dark, but once you get to know them, it's very cool. I can use it on my guitars, and electric Mandolin just my selecting higher frequencies. For Drop D or Slack tuning, the lower ranges come in really handy.

I'm still putting a new Hot Pot in my old Original Crybaby, so I won't have to use my 535Q for regular wah range.

As for the original question, any wah will do. If Stevie used an Ibanez Weeping Demon "Say What" would still sound like "Say What".

Also, Hendrix changed his Wah Pedal as often as he changed Strats. He used Vox, Dunlop, Thomas, and a wide range of hand made stuff.

Excuse me, I didn't know that there was someone out there that was against learning something about their favorite players. I have been posting here since July, and not one person has discouraged me from speaking my mind on Stevie Ray Vaughan. Because, believe me, I have said numerous things about the man. And, yes, I was using a little bit of exaggeration, but get off my back, will ya? So what if I care what the two greatest players of their times did, and possibly ever! If you're not contemplating these questions as a musician, then you must only play what you make up. Because we get ideas from lots of musicians, and this is just my way of inquiring about those that have made an impact on me.

Nuff said.

I agree with you here. I like knowing what guys that i admire are playing, but i dont want to be them either. I love SRV but i play tele's You know i guess we need to here jim play so we cna aspire to sound like him!!

Good advise! I forgot about that. I have a busted one sitting in the corner gathering dust too. Now that you mention it, I am quite disappointed with the inferior quality of the Crybaby... just don't know how else you can get the same tone... perhaps Snarling Dogs but I think they may be out of business.

The one time I really nailed SRV's Tin Pan Alley tone was on a Tele neck PU.

I own a crybaby gcb95 and it's o.k. but when I got my vox wah I was amazed. It has such a rich and vintage sound to it. Needless to say, the crybaby is in the closet. 8)

None. A cord, a cranked lower wattage tube amp and a guitar is all you really need to play the blues. I'm mostly a blues player and never even wanted a wah pedal or any other effect. I've never really associated a wah pedal with the blues. I guess I'm more of a purist.

I'm a purist to and only use a Tubescreamer and sometimes a Wah.
A pedal does't make you a better player but can give you more colors
to your sound imo.

Have wah pedals changed since they were originally invented? Because I've seen Stevie Ray's/Hendrix's wah, and it looks different than mine (we've both got voxes).

SRV & Hendrix & Clapton all used wah's from various different makers over time.

A wah is basically just a sweep filter, with hopefully a good well made pot that can handle a lot of cycles before breaking :).

What I mean by changing or different is have they changed the design?
