It was great this week, now it's very cloudy, and next week it's supposed to rain hard. :( I guess on the bright side it will clean up some of the ash that is still airborne here and help the poor farmers under Eyjafjallajökull.

Hi Nonni: give me a report on that volcano if you'd be so kind, please.

I have to go to Denmark soon and I'm wondering whether it's OK to buy a plane ticket or if I should play safe and go by sea (much longer journey) because the volcano might fill the sky with ash and close down the airspace again. Whachathink?

Don't worry: I'll make my own decision - nobody else's responsibility. Just want a view from close up... :D

Cheers - C

Last time I heard it is almost over. There still some eruption explosion, some steam, but I think that the ash isn't getting as much airtime as it use to. The ash problem is pretty much a local problem for those who live under the clacier where once green pastures now look like grey deserts and dry ash blows up in the wind.

Hi man: thanks for the update. I saw some pictures of what the nearby farmers are having to deal with. Wow! Hard work.

I heard that lots of Icelanders have been going over to have a look at the volcano for themselves. Have you done that, Nonni? Got any good photos?

:D - C

Sadly no I didn't.

Alot of Icelanders and other tourist (including James May and Top Gear camera crew) went to Fimmvörðuháls when it started erupting there before Eyjafjallajökull. That eruption was a tourist eruption (no ash) you could walk almost all the way to the crater, James May apperantly tried to drive there on the same Toyota Hilux they took to the North Pole, but the front tires turned on fire as soon as they touched the semi backed lava.

Eyjafjallajökull wasnt a tourist volcano, though looking at from distance was majestic (I've heard :? ). It was more of a catastrophe eruption (last I've heard it has costed more than 600 billion ISK, 4,64 billion US$, 3,74 billion € or 3,18 £, around the world, mostly in the travel intustrie including the Icelandic one).

Someone started a Facebook site here in Iceland encouringing Icelanders, especially unemployed, to volunteer in a clean job on farms and in towns under the clacier. Im thinking that I might just do that on part of my summervacation :D

BTW Twelvebar: I feel very innocent about this, sitting here taking my Sunday morning coffee in nice warm sunshine. You've got snow - at the end of May? Streuth!

So. No guitar finishing at the moment, huh...?

Cheers - C

It's not uncommon for us to have snow on the Victoria Day weekend, but it's been extra cold this spring. We're expecting rain for a while, hopefully the snow is done now. Buy yeah, snow on May 29 this year.

I have seen snow in my city in every month(though not all in the same year,) since I moved here 10 years ago.
