well it depends of the atmosphere and the show. if its a mellow acoustic show, sitting down with candles on. rock set, standing (more or less jumping around) and at home its 50/50. when learning hard licks i sit down but if im jamming some powerchords im standing up in 'rock stance'. also, i'll sometimes pull a doyle bramhall and just sit down for an entire blues set.

I'm usually sitting since I'm generally just playing for myself or one or two friends at home. I'm typically sitting too if I go over to one or two musician friend's homes and jam. The exception is playing bass, where I tend to like to stand as much as sit -- maybe 50/50 on that.

It would take me a while to get back into playing standing as I did in band days. The few times I've tried it in recent years, I'm very, very sloppy though that would probably go away fast enough with practice.

Classical folk always sit, 'cause they gotta get the wrist wrap.

Me, I'm too old to stand, so I sit, but rock n roll dont look good sittin'.

Home practice is almost all sitting on a nice Tama drum throne adjusted to a comfortable height.

I prefer standing when I'm playing electric, when I'm playing acoustic I like sitting down

I find it so much easier to play sitting down to be honest. Better control over the neck.

I prefer sitting when I'm learning something new. I like standing but I have to keep moving around or my feet ache. I've also notice that if I can't quite get to the A and low E strings at the very high frets when I'm standing unless I bend over like Angus Young (that's the only similarity between Angus and I though).

Ummm....got a little worried when I saw the title of this thread.

I try to play both ways....I prefer to sit down when learning and then stand up to try to play a song. I have to sit with a classical guitar because I can't attach a strap to it so all sitting down for that.

I'm fine either way--I wear my strap so the guitar is about the same height either way. Actually it's a bit lower when I stand--but about the same-so it's good either way.

I do sit when I play classical though.

Um. I wouldn't say I PLAY better or worse depending on my position.

When I perform solo with my acoustic, I find it a little easier to sit, just because it gets me in the mood, or... well, maybe it's just more comfortable to me.
