Do you play better when you stand up or when you're sittin down? I see the classical players all sittin down when they play. Jose Feleciano always sat down. Mason Williams always sat down. Jazz players always sit down. Everyone else stands up to play. I practice sittin down when I'm learning something, but at a full band practice I always stand. BB King sits and plays. Session players always sit.
If I thought I could get away with it, I might sit on a bar stool and play. I get tired standing up all night to play, of course, I'm old. I'll turn 55 this June. 35+ years of playing in bands is catching up with my legs.
Your opinions?

Whenever I'm learning something new I am always sitting down but if I'm at a gig or band practice, sitting down is not really something a southern rock lead guitarist can get away with, unless it was a different style such as classical or jazz, but to answer your question I do prefer to sit down

Only one's destined to stand for all eternity Masterhacker are Status Quo and their cover bands :) , I've never heard anyone say the band were rubbish because the guitarist was sitting down, no sense being on the stage with a big pained expression either, unless you're in the middle of a solo  "grab a stool n b cool" 35 years of playing, you've earned the right IMO, rock on or rocking horse on :)

I'm abotu 50/50... I'm sloppier when I stand but it's easier to get the groove going.

i much "prefer" to sit when i play... i tend to tilt my bass out on a slight angle when seated that i dont get when i stand.... during practice i usually sit...but as a rule when gigging i stand....

I play better sitting down, because a guitar resting on my thigh isn't going anywhere so easily. I prefer to use my left leg as a guitar rest because it puts the neck in a better position for those trips to the tiny frets...

I'm almost 57,with arthritis,so I'm sitting some now,of course at home I'm always sitting.
I felt kind of bad about sitting on stage till I saw Jack Bruce sitting on a stool at the Royal Albert Hall playing with Cream a couple of years ago on the DVD...he was still cool.

I usually stand or lean on a barstool

but occasionally when I'm just sitting with an acoustic at home I will lay down on a couch

I find I can put a lot more attack and aggression into my playing when I stand, it helps me be more expressive I feel.

It depends. I never play acoustic standing. I prefer to play electric standing, unless im just noodlin around while watching TV or something.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

It really depends on what you are comfortable with. As long as you are comfortable you'll play the best you can. I personally prefer standing but there are some songs I play equally well sitting down.
