I know it's lame to admit you wasted part of your life watching American Idol but it was a very good show last night with lots of celebs. To kick off there was Orianthi shreddng "Schools Out for Summer" with Alice Cooper.

So what happened? How are they going to sell Beautiful Day as a single? Where is the new American Idol song?

Any thoughts on the winners. Local TV is taking polls like if there was something wrong.

I'm happy for all the top 10 including the winner Lee who I'm sure everyone voted for to keep him from going back to his job smelling paint fumes.

I didn't watch idol at all until the last two weeks. From that alone I think that Crystal Bowersox was robbed. She has true music ability while Lee couldn't pull off his own song. It's a shame at what the worlds opinion of good music has come to. It's really a popularity contest to begin with so really I didn't think anything good was going to come from it. The idol producers should really rethink the age cap for contestants to get more experienced people out that just haven't had a break yet.

The only time I ever watched American Idol was that season with Taylor Hicks.

Orianthi, she really shredded "School's Out for Summer". Sorry I missed Jeff Beck.

It was a great show.I couldn't get over Christina Aquilera. She still has the lungs and the notes.

I would imagine it's all about contracts and songs they want to push by big record companies onto unsuspecting teenagers. I'm sure whoever has talent in the top ten will emerge as the real winner on the charts.

How have you been?
It's been a while.
Orianthi is one of my favorite new artists. Highly Strung with Vai is a great song/video.
The wife loves Idol, I usually duck out and hide in my studio or the garage.

our area (northwest ohio) is in a funk since local girl crystal didn't win. :( people here think that we're the only ones who's votes matter. she did great anyway.

i wasn't thrilled with the performances of chicago and joe cocker. seemed like the effort wasn't there. i saw both about 8 years ago and they were great. maybe just a bad night.

thanks crystal- you make us proud :D

Hey BastardN, I've been hanging on pins and needles waiting for you to start you staining project. My project is hung up too because of car trouble. But as soon as I recover I'll be staining my ash body too.

I mostly did the same with Idol but did catch the first part and was very impressed with the whole show (or maybe it was just Orianthi).

I got Orianthi's CD and although I find it bubble gummy she does have some great chops. Maybe if she did some covers her voice would come out in different dimensions.

Talk to you soon,

Siobhan shoulda won...it's fixed. :x

Joe Cocker looked like Redd Fox.

Chicago has seen better days, same with the BeeGees.

Janet Jackson didn't have a wardrobe malfunction.

Alanis Morrisette rocked.

I dvr'd it and watched at super fast speed.

PS - 'Simon throws out his money after it gets old and wrinkly'?
=per Ricky Gervais

I think I had an old girlfriend that I did that to. :P

Crystal absolutely should have won. The problem is that the people who like her style of music (classic rockers, who are typically older) don't vote. That leaves the 12-20 year old girls to elect whoever they think is cutest. Of course, I'm 17 and I used all of my texting powers to vote for Crystal so the rule doesn't apply to everyone.

My favorite three of the year were Crystal, Casey and Lee so I'm amazed that my favorite three all made the top three. And actually, it's probably better that Crystal didn't win because she can now go in whatever musical direction she wants, when they producers of the show and of Lee's record will steer him (or any winner) in a pop direction.

I quit watching it years ago…I did tune in this year for the finally show just to see Orianthi play and Carrie Underwood in her tight leather pants…not a bad show lots of artiest onboard. Most of them sounded washed up and not too good, but still cool to watch.

Cheers
Bill

I see where you are coming from but "robbed" seems a little strong. To me it was Adam Lambert who was robbed. Remember his performance last year with Kiss?? He was so head and shoulders better than anyone ever on American Idol. That performance was awesome ...

IMO both of them were robbed. But the show is probably more about finding the next pop star, not the next artist.

It seems like the runner up is the real winner, Daughtry and Adam Lambert being the most recent. What has Taylor Hicks done since winning?

Just my take,
John.E

Doesn't really matter to me. The only albums from idols I've bought is Daughtry and Bo Bice. Everyone else just don't cut it for my tastes. I think that the whole thing is rigged for the record companies to cash in on who looks better not who has real talent.
