I'm a huge fan of heavy. Maybe heavier than you are used to. All of those bands that you listed are very mainstream and not very brutal... have you ever heard Born of Osiris, Emmure, The Devil Wears Prada, Haste The Day, or Underoath? Very heavy, very awsome. Well, some of the earlyish Underoath stuff is closer to punk/screamo, but it's all pretty sick stuff.

(Edit)
Lol. Cookie monster. It's called screaming, and it takes a lot of skill, unless you want to lose your voice. I'm in a band with screaming, and I've been learning how. I look at it differently; it's not someone constipated. It protrays emotions. It's desperate, condemning, or highly stressful/authoritive. Give it a chance. I hated it at first, but it's an acquired taste.

That's exactly the kind of heavy music I like! :D Disciple is one of my favorite bands ever, I've seen them live several times and I have

almost all of their albums (I need a couple
of the earlier ones). And The Showdown is
also one of my favorites, I especially love
their first album. Have you heard of a band
called Decyfer Down? If you like Disciple
you'll probably like them. They were touring
with Disciple a couple of years ago.

I've heard of Decyfer Down but haven't heard them. I'll give them a look. I'm really more of a classic rock person though. I just happened up on the other two from my son which loves all of those Christian metal bands. Which brings to to mind of a few more... Red, Demon Hunter, and Fireflight.

Yeah, I used to play a lot of that on guitar. Especially Haste the Day.

My Dad is sort of the same way. He's really into classic rock but he ended up liking a lot of the same bands I do. In fact, some bands he liked before I did. Decyfer Down is his favorite, and they kind of sound like Red or Disciple so that's why I thought you might like them. :)

Well, depends what you mean by heavy...

Leslie West?
Bachman Turner Overdrive?

Oh, that's heavy musicians, not heavy music--although some of their stuff qualifies in my mind as heavy.

Yeah... Actually, Prada's "Branches..." album seems a bit more brutal to me... But yeah. I can't stand some bands like Necro and DD. They often are very... satanic or unpoetic, or... whatever, it just doesn't sound good at all. I'm more into technical stuff than "let's blow your brains out with our kick drums and drop tunings!", you know? I really like bands like The Human Abstract, with sweeping, breakdowns, etc, instead of monotonous "blah" like with some bands.

im just not into the emo/hardcore/grindcore stuff. i dont like the constant blast beats and open chunks theres gotta be catchy instrumentals.
