Really awesome japanese comic I just discovered, I've torn through about 22 volumes of it in the last week(think novel size not american floppies). It chronicles several years of the lives of this band Beck/Mongolian Chop Squad as they form, break up reform, tour, get on labels, dropped from labels, play good shows, bad shows. It's phenomenal, very emotional, you get to see one of the main characters go from middle school to adult hood, discover rock, guitars, girls, drop out, see friends killed, fall to alcoholism, all kinds of good stuff. Highly reeccomend it, it has such an appreciation for rock(and hip hop), it's close to life and you get to see awesome representations on panel of Strats, telecasters, a jaguar, jazzmaster, mustang, White Falcon, Les Pauls, SGs, and lots of other cool gear.


If you have ever been in a band, this $@!& will hit so many of the right spots, it is just brutally real in parts, guitarists flaking off, other bands treating you like $@!&, skeezy club owners thinking you owe them your life, it hit me hard in good and bad ways, brought a lot of $@!& back to me. It was honestly inspiring and I have been writing so #$@*&!% much since I started reading this book.

I also discovered today apparently the book has been so successful that Fender Japan released signature edition telecasters and mustangs from the comic character Yukio Tanaka o_O
