Never expected to like that first KISS album that I got as a gift, who knew?

Never thought I would be a fan of people like John Prine or Robert Earl Keen either. But Prine's "Sessions at West 54th" and Keen's "Live at the Rhyman" are both favorites of mine.

Any of The Poodles albums. I want to hate them but I can't.

I fully agree with you on that one. Back in the 90s when Undertow came out, our drummer was in love with them, i just didn't get it. Then Anema came out so I picked it up to give them another shot and i fell in love with them and haven't looked back. I too am not influenced by the Adam Jones but I love his style. VERY innovative band. I always thought of them as a good band for anyone who likes Rush, Floyd, and Sabbath.

Somebody gave me Pat Travers' "Don't Feed The Alligators" as a birthday gift a few years back. I was never that big a fan of his to begin with and the songs on the album were all covers of various classics. I didn't even unwrap the CD for six months after receiving it.

Now......it's some of my favorite "road-trip music".

Billy Talent, I thought I would hate it, but it turned out pretty good if you like your punk rock with a bit of bubblegum.

Ida Maria - Fortress around my heart. - I have mentioned that album a couple of times now on the forums  .

Florence and the Machine - Lungs - I am starting to think that I have a thing for female rock performers

and perhaps must surprisingly...

The Ting Tings - We started nothing - Some british electro punk that I did not expect that I would like  :D

Jethro Tull - Aqualung. The idea of a flute in a rock band sounded silly to me, but now Jethro Tull is one of my favorite bands.

OK Computer - Radiohead

I was skeptical after hearing all the hype about it being a latter day Sgt Pepper or Pet Sounds, but it was very good (except for that weird spoken word track in the middle). I don't think it's one of the top 10 records of all time, but I like it a lot.

Jethro Tull "Thick As A Brick"
Way back in the early '70's I forgot to send my monthly selection card back to the Colombia Record Club. For those of you who remember, this meant that I was automatically shipped and billed for their "Monthly Selection" which was ,by the way, non-returnable. I was mad as hell at myself for wasting about twelve or thirteen dollars :x (because it was a double album) on a record I didn't want until about a month later when I finally opened and played it. Over the next month I wore it out and had to get a new copy. The new one didn't come with the extremely cool enclosed "newspaper" but I still have the original.
One of my favorite mistakes. :D

Daughtry. I listen to it all the time. Forget that he got his break on American Idol and you'll be able to enjoy the record.

this may sound surprising... but all nirvana... one of my favorite bands is AC/DC, though at the time i was like 10 and still in "i have to have the same views as my favorite band" mode.... so i thought all alt rock sucked... now, if i met 10 year old me, i would beat the $#!t out of him for being an elitist jerk who thinks anything without a solo sucks
