So I had some time to stop in to a local music store I visit on occasion.
Upon saying hi to all the employees and regulars , as well as students in to get lessons. This colorful Jacka$$ comes in. He is holding a beat up tweed guitar case. He sets it against the wall and starts looking round the store. I'm B.S.'ing with the owner and can see him in my peripheral.

Now I truly like the folks in the shop. They are honest and have some nice new/used gear. Good Stuff.
This guy starts to shoot down, insult and pick apart everything in the store under his breath but loud enough I can hear him.....so can everyone else...... .... I thought this tool was drunk. A few of the guys said he has been there before. And that is the norm for this $@!.
He starts in with his label snobbery and elitist attitude.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....I had to do it.

I ask him what is in the case.

"Well let me show you" , he says, with a sneer.

Now, I am usually a pretty quiet guy. But I will voice my opinion if things are off balance.....
So this is out of character for me to even ask..lol.

He opens the case and pulls out a beautiful Dakota red 1965 Fender Mustang.
I am impressed. 8)

He proceeds to drop it.

He reaches out for it to catch it .....misses only to further propel it...

It lands on the right horn shatters as it hits the ground

It makes a sound like someone hit the bridge with a hammer.

There are paint chips and splintered vintage wood everywhere.

Like a train wreck .......I couldn't turn away.

The shop was quiet for what felt like 5 minutes....weird like a movie.

Anyways long story short......and after watching this guy almost die from shock. (I really hated to watch something sooooo pretty die a horrible death)
It turned out NOT to be his......... but his Fathers guitar.
He wanted to gloat to a few of the guys in the shop and it blew up in his face.

Man......If that was me I would not have gone home.

Figured I would share.

Anyone else have a similar story?

Man, even if he was a turd head that still sucks. I am curious to know what happened after? What did he do then?

I have never experienced anything like that before. I would have laughed (silently to myself). And possibly blurted out an inappropriate joke like "Guess they just don't make em like they used to".

Hi Nevin, Great to see you again.

He fell to his knees scrambling to cradle the mess of destroyed Fender goodness on the floor.

I said ........."That sucks", and calmly left the store. As I left I heard alot of muffled loud voices after the door closed..

Once outside I laughed (hysterically)myself into a stupor and tears.
I got a call about 10 minutes ago with the details.

It is a shame about the 'Stang though....
Sucks to be him....-N 8)

I'd have laughed in his face, then said something like, ah well mustangs aint all that anyways. Not that I think that, I'd just have to rub it in a bit.

It's too bad that a poor innocent Fender had to die thanks to that creep.

"Gee......I don't think duct tape will fix that."

If'n it were my kid, I'd beat him like a rented mule. TWICE!

What a great story. Thanks for sharing that. I despise guitar snobs. Not everyone can afford a vintage or custom shop. I have the same low end strat I've had to mod to the best of my ability since 1993. But I Love that guitar and I'm pretty sure it loves me.

I would have said "that's real nice but I'm not ito the relic-ed look but thanks for showing me"

The fact that it was Dakota red cracks me up because it makes me think of Cameron Frye taking out his fathers Ferari 250GT California. Maybe he can put the guitar on blocks and run it in reverse for a few hours.

Thanks again.
