ok friends- i used to use medium fender picks. these old hands felt a little sore, so i tried fender light picks. a definite improvement, but i feel i need something in between.

does fender indicate anywhere the gauge of the picks? or perhaps somebody knows?

i need to get some new picks soon, and i know other companies indicate the size on the picks.

Hmm. 'Ain't no little kid by any stretch, and...

...mostly use Fender Heavy, but that's for mostly single-note / partial chord melody line stuff. Thinner ones sound "snap-click-y" and not articulate, to these ears.

Are you strumming a bunch with the with the "light-medium" picks?

I'd try some Dunlops. You can get exactly what you want, instead of having to pick from three choices.

I like the Dunlop Tortex line. The thicknesses are expressed in guages and the guages are colour coded and there are enough guages available to suit almost anyone. I like the orange ones for electric and the red ones for acoustic.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
