I wholeheartedly disagree with you. We have Freedom of Speech. The media doesn't, no, and that's a problem, but the individual has every right to say what they want to. You can argue this with me, but go over to Afghanistan, or Iraq, or North Korea, or a dozen other countries I could name, and see how their citizens live, see what their "freedoms" are, I can guarantee you they are very limited.

We have more freedoms and liberties than you will ever realize, unless you have visited some of these places and FOUGHT for those freedoms. I apologize if you have any military service behind you, but from the way you talk, I'm pretty confident you don't.

You're right, Freedom isn't free, there's brave men and women over there right now fighting for it, and there's 234 years of Brave, Unselfish Americans to thank for your freedoms. It's those freedoms that you're using now, and it's those freedoms that the church in question are using. Do I agree with what they say? No, none of it, but it's their RIGHT as an American (or group of Americans) to be able to say and do. I would rather each and every one of them die. Their actions at the funerals of fallen soldiers, Marines, Seamen and Airmen is despicable, but we live in a country that gives them the freedom to (peacefully) protest outside of these places, be it morally wrong or not.

/patriotic rant from former serviceman.

Your not as free as you think you are. Go ask George W if he thinks Osama had something to say and you'll see exactly the level of free speech you enjoy. All our speech is constantly policed. How is that any kind of freedom?

I dont mind you disagreeing with me, it's your right, just dont be hoodwinked. Where law abounds freedom is curtailed. Law and freedom are mutually exclusive. BTW I'm not American. Theres certainly no one fighting for my freedom in the middle east. Theres a load of soldiers over there fighting for Tony Blairs continued profits from oil and munitions companies that he has considerable dealings with. Do you really think George W hasnt made out of it, considering his financial background?

http://updatedfrequently.com/did-former-british-pm-tony-blair-profit-from-the-iraq-war
Or better still, from a reputable albeit rightwing national newspaper
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1259030/Tony-Blairs-secret-dealings-South-Korean-oil-firm-UI-Energy-Corp.html

Mate the whole problem with the world today is a complete devaluation of the common man. The majority of what we think to be true is nothing more than a sham concocted to keep us compliant.

wowzo, do wop popped the buzzard and the oriole, I knew a reason not to open that other thread existed (I must be a physic) but after reading this one I went back and got through the first 2 pages of that one and I agree with every one, Tanner1994 you're forgiven 'cause we all learn from mistakes just like we all make them, actually I forgive everybody that needs or wants forgiveness. Now one last word, "Niki, you are my hero", again, actually you are all my hero's, it's just that simple.

I try to make it a point to not talk religion or politics in polite company. If I've known someone for a while, I might get into that discussion, because I know from experience it's almost always going to turn into an argument, and I know which of my friends can handle it.

Also, Tanner, I didn't mean to jack your thread earlier with my rant on Freedom's and such. I just get heated over certain topics, and that happens to be one of them. I've lost too many friends for others to not appreciate what those who are in the uniformed services do for them. Luckily, I came back.

It takes a big man to apologize, I'm sure it was a little easier with the anonymity of the internet, but it still says a lot that you stepped up and displayed that Honor and Courage.

All people should be respected as human beings regardless of their race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or even if they play a Gibson..
It's no sweat. Play on. You've gained some respect.

I've found that if I don't talk politics or religion in music forums,
it works out best for everybody.

+1

I can guarantee that if I said something about religion or politics here, I would offend alot of people. I found this out one day in a class debate at school...

Thanks Tanner for apologizing. I don't take offense to things like that but it makes me happy to see some one take responsibilty for their mistakes.

ya i take debate also. a lot of hurt feelings happen in there. they made a girl cry once over abortion and another girl cried today when we did LD debates over abusive relationships.

The abortion debate can be a heated one for sure. Blackmun wrote such a poor opinion for Roe V Wade that it keeps coming up. The use of the right to privacy that was read into in the do process clause when its not there has been cause for much debate. Sadly there was not a better opinion written resulting in the same findings.

Tanner you have my respect for clearing the air on you views, as you get older you will learn to take a minute to think before you speak and make sure that is what you want to say. I make sure what I say is what I am going to stand by. Kind of like firing a gun once you pull the trigger you cant take it back.

Niki I get freaked out on how similar our thinking and political views are.

Keep that pendulum swinging.

though my opinions strongly differ from yours, it still takes some balls to apologize. when i read your first post my respect for you flatlined, but you manned up and my respect for you is coming back.

we all have a common interest in guitars and i think we should keep it that way.

personally i don t believe in god, but i do not try to force my beliefs upon others, every other member in my band goes to church every sunday and they know i dont belive, but it doesnt effect us we accept people as people and their opinions are their own and should be respected.

when i was younger !@$ people freaked me out, but the first !@$ couple i met were some of the nicest people i have ever met. !@$ people are people too they are just internally wired to have effection toward the same gender. its not their fault. in the future just try to look at people as just being people and disregard any views that conflict and i believe you will be much better off.
