To those i offended in that thread i am sorry.

i know i spoke my opinion and i wasn't thinking when i said it and i was not thinking about how it would backfire on me.

i was to trying to pin my opinions on how i was raised and what i was taught. which i know understand i shouldn't do and i should take resposponsibility for my own words.

but i still feel some of yall had no right to say i am not a christian, i know who i am,what i believe in and what i think. Yall dont.

i am now ashamed of what i said and i am sorry if yall look at me in a bad light now

i truly am sorry and i hope we can move on from this event and try to put this bump in the road behind us. all though we all dont agree with each others opinions we can all agree that we love guitars and we should continue talking about them  instead of our religious opinions and etc...

It takes a bigger man to say "I'm sorry". Don't sweat it Tanner... everybody makes mistakes. It's the smart people that learn from them. Good for you to "man up".

And another virtue i hold in as high regard as stepping up and apologizing for actions is forgiveness. You are very noble in my book for just standing up and sticking by your convictions but taking responsibility for them. I too take back anything that i might have posted in response that offended you in any way. Doesn't the Westboro Baptist Church just bring out the best in everyone?

Keep on Rocking Squire!

Edited: Jeez... i'm getting all emotional now. You touched me.

Tanner,
When I was 16 I couldn't believe how stupid my father was,
When I was 21 I was amazed at how much he'd learned.

Rock on dude, you'll be okay.

Tanner as I said in that thread, I dont have a problem with you, or your views. Their yours and nothing to do with me, whether I agree with em or not. Every body should have the freedom to say what they want, any constraint on freedom is no freedom at all. Which is exactly why freedom of speech does not exist in the western world. It's a lie, end of story.

All I would say to you is, if you have a opinion atleast have the backbone to take full responsibility for them. Dont blame em on your education. Every single person in the world has rebelled against their upbringing in some way, atleast once.

I'll leave you with this mate. Freedom isn't free, it comes at a price and with a responsibility to be used with temperance.

A Russian philosopher imprisoned in a gulag (BigJay will likely know who) once said words to this effect. "Freedom of speech is unimportant to those who have freedom of thought".

Something for you to mull over.

Absolutely!

Don't sweat it, Tanner. This was probably a "teachable moment" for many here.

And you're a bigger man now than when you arose this morning.

Tanner, it's all about forgiveness.
All people should be respected as human beings regardless of their race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or even if they play a Gibson..
It's no sweat. Play on. You've gained some respect.

you can say and feel whatever you want to. it's what makes our country great. if we were all the same it would be a damn boring place to exist. my biological father is a homosexual. do i like it? no, i don't. but i love him just the same as he loves me.
we're all alot better off keeping religious and political views to ourselves........on this forum. mr T, i could type for hours about politics. i know for a fact that i would deeply offend someone on this forum. Mr Nik put it well as he does every time he graces this forum with his wisdom.
i find apologies selfish and shallow. i do everything i can to avoid having to apologize for my actions. but then again, i'm an old beastard. some will accept and some won't. i myself won't give it another thought. i'm more interested in what i can learn from you about fender equipment.
once again, this is the best forum on the planet. let's enjoy it while we can.

Jeebus

It was the birth of my eldest that sorted my bigotry out. I was stood in the kitchen holding this little baby that was like no other kid on the planet. The thought struck me, 'in 16 years time if she tells me she's a lesbian would I not still love her?' The obvious cliched answer 'it wouldnt change the way I feel about her, it just couldnt'.

If were honest we've all felt some bigotted feeling towards others or some group of people. Thats not the problem, it's how, when and if you get past that and just get on with your life.

I've found that if I don't talk politics or religion in music forums,
it works out best for everybody.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you. We have Freedom of Speech. The media doesn't, no, and that's a problem, but the individual has every right to say what they want to. You can argue this with me, but go over to Afghanistan, or Iraq, or North Korea, or a dozen other countries I could name, and see how their citizens live, see what their "freedoms" are, I can guarantee you they are very limited.

We have more freedoms and liberties than you will ever realize, unless you have visited some of these places and FOUGHT for those freedoms. I apologize if you have any military service behind you, but from the way you talk, I'm pretty confident you don't.

You're right, Freedom isn't free, there's brave men and women over there right now fighting for it, and there's 234 years of Brave, Unselfish Americans to thank for your freedoms. It's those freedoms that you're using now, and it's those freedoms that the church in question are using. Do I agree with what they say? No, none of it, but it's their RIGHT as an American (or group of Americans) to be able to say and do. I would rather each and every one of them die. Their actions at the funerals of fallen soldiers, Marines, Seamen and Airmen is despicable, but we live in a country that gives them the freedom to (peacefully) protest outside of these places, be it morally wrong or not.

/patriotic rant from former serviceman.
