I've posted a little about this project before, getting opinions about tools, procedure, that kind of thing. It's not a Fender, but I don't post on Ibanez (if they even have a forum, I dunno) and I enjoy my time here on this one. Thought some folks might like to see this.

2000 Ibanez GSR205
EMG-40DC active pickups
EMG-BQC 18V 3band sweepable mid preamp
Hipshot Transtone satin finish bridge (super cool in every way, highly recommend it) and matching knobs with O-rings

Obviously I had to do some pretty extensive and time-consuming work with my new Dremel (about four hours total). It's not perfect if you look closely, but I got it done. And since I was already at it, and I have a big right thumb, as you can see I extended the pickup routs to make for a good place to plant it on either pickup. That has always been a complaint...the pickups on basses never quite give me enough of a perch for the massive digit.

The bridge also has a slightly wider string spacing than a stock Ibanez, which I like a lot, and I set it about a millimeter off-center because I've grown to prefer that over the years, with my playing style.

So what do you guys think of her?

Sadly my amp is 170 miles away at the house where we have our band practices, right near Delta State University where I attend. So I've actually yet to hear it. It's been sitting in a chair for two days. If I didn't have short hair, I might just pull it out. I will certainly let you know.

Looks good Delta! I'm also glad to see that you made it thru the bad storms we had a few weeks back.

So your a fighting okra then? From what I hear DSU is a pretty good school.

I also noticed that you changed your location to Jackson. If you want to try out your mods to the bass, I have several friends around town with bass amps.

Thanks Thumbs! Yea I live just on the other side of the Pearl River from Jackson, so that's where I am for the summer. Delta State is pretty good, but suffering badly financially right now, and taking it out on the students. Many are opting to transfer to the Div 1 schools in the state. There reasoning for going to Delta was the great school at a low price, and as the price of everything on campus goes up, and esteemed faculty members leave, many no longer see it as worth it. It's a pretty hostile environment too. The mosquitoes are almost big enough to put on a hook for fish bait.

As far as the amp goes, I really wanted to bring mine home but it's two pieces, 170lbs, and not practical to take back and forth every other weekend for band practice in Cleveland. So I might just need to take you up on that, I could stand to meet new musicians around here anyway.

BTW, whereabouts in MS are you?

Cool! I'm in the reservoir area. A lot of times we have jam sessions on saturdays. Your more than welcome to join in at any time. I'll warn ya in advance though, you'll likely be the youngest in the crowd by 5-10 years.

As far as an amp goes. just hit me up getting my hands on one is not a prob at all!
