Just my opinion, dont mean anything

I apologise to any true christians if i offended anyone (except bigots) its just that the church is partly about togetherness and love for each other and of course a persons faith.

The church has been and still is used as an excuse to persecute and lay all sorts of evil and cruelty and our fellow man.

As others have stated any "true" christian woulndnt have any truck with such things.

Peace to all.

FORGET how your raised! Live by your own individual set of choices and influences and don't conform to those around you. Most importantly, take in what you want to take in.

Personally, I'm a huge christian but I don't think that protesting at any funeral is right. Ultimately, we are not the ones who decide who goes to heaven or hell.

Ah...Okay this was a little brutally Extreme...Just to clarify though I was raised to Attack anyone who was thougt to be !@$.

I had a bad role model to say the least, Anyway I did this until I was in Secondary School (HighSchool) where i stopped and actually thought about it. I did originally have a big issue with Homosexual people due never actually knowing one, However I know a few now and have some brilliant people I can call friends because of it.
In fact my first lesson on guitar was given to me by a guy who later told me he had a crush on me,This was my turning point and I had a think about things...

You as a Human being like myself can make your own life decisions, I recommend in future however you avoid expressing your Darker opinions on here as the Vast majority of us Are highly likely to Disagree.

My regards.

By the way, I'm Christian and I think that. People like that give us all a bad name. :x

Ditto.
It doesn't matter who the person is that died--at best it's in extreme bad taste what they do, and actually I don't think it's ever best case scenario with this group. (I refuse to call them a Church. they don't actually preach a gospel of any sort--just a bunch of bad news for others.)

This is part of the price of having freedom of speech though.

Overall it's worth it, but then a group like this comes along and abuses it.

+1 on both comments. Why people would even care to disrupt things of such nature is really rather unthinkable. Maybe someone should go picket at their doors?

I tried to stay out of this one but can't. These people are idiot's and there Church does not representative Christians. We must remember the word Christian covers a wide swath of beliefs and Churches.
I being a Conservative Roman Catholic find it appalling to do such a thing at a funeral. I believe in freedom of speech but not at the cost of being disruptive which is the whole idea of such a protest.
The meaning of Freedom of speech has gone to far in ways of use.

Sorry guys. Didn't know this post I started would start such a stir.

I'm only going to say I lump these protesters in with the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. People who are supposed to preach love and tolerance, but only spew hate, and use God's name to do it. I'm not religious myself, but I know enough of what the bible says to know these people most not be reading the same bible as everyone else.

Shirley Phelps-Roper is a carny and the entire Westboro Baptist Church is a traveling circus.

Anyone who falls for their nonsense is playing right into their hands. Even they don't believe what they pretend to preach. It's all a con game.

That being said, Dio certainly took his shots at religion during his lifetime, didn't he? He made a living of pretending to worship Satan.

Same gimmick, different hucksters.

I'm a Soldier currently deployed to Iraq and about to retire after 21 years of service. I'm so glad that I can deploy so people have the right to say whatever they like.

It doesn't make me mad so much as sad. I've been deployed to:
Desert Shield/Storm Dec '90-Apr '90
Afghanistan Apr '02- Aug '02
Iraq Feb '03- Feb '04
Iraq Aug '09 -

Most people haven't got a clue what it means to us being a Soldier deployed. It’s true I chose this way of life and I don’t complain.

For those of you who give us your support, thanks! I want to buy you all a beer.

To those of you who don't support us, ask me about the 1%.*

*This would % of Americans serving in the US Military so you can sleep at night and not have to worry about someone invading your house, bombing your streets or taking away that 1st Amendment you love so very much.

Remember Tanner is just a kid people. He blames it on his upbringing but that upbringing isn't finished yet.

When my family moved to Belfast from Glasgow (2 of the most sectarian cities on Earth) I was a blinkered little kid going on about Catholic persecution and human rights and all this bollocks. Throwing petrol bombs etc. I got caught up in it and I am not proud.
As I got older and actually read about other religions and educated myself on the world I made up my mind to live by my own morals and understandings. I have a very open mind and the only people I tend to dislike are those that tend to ram their beliefs down others throats. Anyone who quotes the bible to me I tend to voice another example of fiction, this is just my view.

In truth organized religion hasn't done much for this world except cause wars, arguments among friends and a lot more pain for humanity than it has anything else. Again this is my view and I respect others points of view also as long as they don't force it on me as I wouldn't force mine on them. One of the reasons I am joining the protest that's the main topic of conversation here in Northern Ireland today about a creationism display in our museums. As a country that has done well to get over recent turmoil and accept new cultures this a major backward step.

I have seen first hand in all 3 of the cities I have lived in religious hatred on an enormous scale and I have lost many a friend and family member to bullets fired in the name of god. I hate arguments and debates on such topics also especially seeing as I was away for a few weeks and this is my first post in a while.

As for hating homosexuals Tanner bro. Think what your Jesus would do. Remember the bible is thousands of years old too. Personally I find it hard to take a code or law to live by from someone who lived that long ago. It was only 50+ years ago that people thought rock n' roll was the devils music. Think about it mate. Also my best friend is homosexual and he is the nicest guy you could ever meet. Where he puts his little richard is no business of mine. I could not care less. As someone also said, the music business is the wrong one for you if you feel this way. It is full of people of every persuasion and the best music is non discriminatory in my opinion. YMMV.

Peace to all of you and I predict a lock on this thread. Religious extremists are the devil in disguise and promote more hatred and conflict than anything else.

If only Gene Roddenberry was still around.

Little brother you can disagree with the homosexual lifestyle without "hating" them.

You can disagree with anybody, about anything without hating them.
If disagreement equaled hate--well we'd all hate everybody--including ourselves.

Jesus hates sin, yet hung out with sinners.
They knew they were sinners.

It was the people who didn't know they were sinners that were the problem.

My comment wasn't directed at you, but making a comment about the whole situation.

I haven't seen your apology thread, but the comment wasn't directed at you.
