If I had to choose an actual rhythm player it would be James Hetfield. I am also a better rhythm player than lead. It kinda sucks because most bands are looking for 2 lead players.

rkreisher, i feel the same way. i'm much more comfortable playing only rythym. my bandmates insist that i play several leads and tell me i sound great when i know it's mud. it makes me practice more. i'd bet you sound better than you think you do. don't cut yourself short.
someone asked malcolm young one time......"why don't you play lead guitar"? his response....."it interferes with my drinking."
honesty

Hendrix.

His rhythm playing was only overshadowed by his lead playing. Yet it's the absolute basis of his greatness, more so than his lead playing or theatrics.

Just have a listen to the chorus section of voodoo chile and pretty much all of purple haze to hear why he owns every other player when it comes to rhythm.

I've never really considered Hendrix a rhythm player, but you're right, he's the best.
