I hate to admit it, but I have all kinds of different straps - locking nylon (extra sustain), Fender nylon & leather (best for Disco), plain leather (for the Blues) and padded leather (heavy metal). I leave straps on most of the guitars hanging on the walls so I can just yank them down and play. I thought the different sounds I got was from the guitars, not the straps. Who knew? Now I'll have to try each guitar with the same strap to see what I get. Guitar playing is much more complicated than I thought all these years. Thanks for bumping this thread back up so I could learn about this!

Did you guys know that the type of lightbulb your using has a large effect on your guitar playing. Just like the last flavor of Gatorade you drank.

I have a white Levi strap and I guess that makes me sound like I play.

Well, now I understand why my strat just doesn't "bite" enough....I could have saved all of that money in amps if I would have just went nylon..........At least my LP is running right.

i'm so good i don't use a strap, my guitar levitates on command. if i did it would be purple leather because i am king........get a grip! adds that put out b.s. like that are for the sheeple. a strap affects tone ...really? the only thing i was never able to understand was how you can play a guitar slung down to your knees. or one jacked up to your chin.

My First Strap Was A Long Leather Belt That I Bought At Goodwill. I Dont Think It Made Any Sound Difference Though. Lol
