You can't forget the clothes that you're wearing (or not wearing). Your guitar rests right up against them. Cotton t-shirts sound better to me than a knit polo shirt, but I still have to go with a white dress shirt over a colored t-shirt for a nice jazzy look. It gives it a pretty bright sound as well.

Hey now! The case can effect tone!!!

If you don't have humidity control in your case put all the printed out songs you were going to learn into the case with the guitar... They provide a perfect humidor.

No No, the polo goes with the Tele, when you're playing the "upscale" country dive-bars.

I find if I use a non-dairy creamer like coffee-mate in my coffee instead of half&half my intonation goes out. Does that count?

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

That depends - were you using it to clean your strings?

I find if I wear my strap too short it places the guitar too close to my tin-foil hat and I get terrible feedback.

From a Zen / absolute physics point of view, EVERYTHING affects the "tone" of a guitar/player/ amp.

In the excellent book, "Guitar Rigs--Classic Guitar and Amp Combinations," Dave Hunter does the best analysis of signal chain yet seen by this writer.

While we may (and personally, 'did) laugh heartily at strap affecting tone, the guitarist for sure does. Especially acoustics; how much does one damp the body with their clothing, body density, amount of physical contact with the body?

But as has been wisely said, who but Eric Johnson could hear the difference?

Is it not a sage, most plyers can't tell (blindfolded) their own instruments from similar, and in some cases, from each other?

And when those Talent Simulators go on sale, 'thinking a case would be a good investmet. A couple in the music room, at work, one in the car....

I sewed together a few of my old jock straps now my guitar has a real manly tone and has some real balls to it.
