My favourite part of the post:

Gibson players prefer the meatiness of a leather strap to let their tone "sing" while fender players prefer the nylon straps to give their guitars more "bite. Acoustic players tend to favour knitted straps to increase softer tones

There i was thinking i need a guitar with a set of buckers in it, but now i see that all i need is to buy a leather strap to let my tone sing just like a gibson!

Every time I think I've seen and heard everything some idiot rises to the challenge.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

WTF......?

Whatever weisenheimer wrote that "nugget of wisdom" needs to be returned to the record plant for a serious re-grooving!

Why stop there? If the strap affects sound, then what about the person playing the guitar?

Lets say, if a guitarist had an obeast definition, then the sound they produce will be more rounded while...
a person who is moderately skinny will obviously create a brighter sound.

Now someone try to tell me this is crazy... ({Cough} Sarcasm)

my favorite was viachicago's response.... something about a shorter strap which elevates the guitar more reducing gravity to allow for more sustain..... good lord there are some pretty damn stupid people on t3h 1nt3rw3bz

Straps? I've heard that you need one of these pedals :

Don't forget that time slows down as you move further away from a gravitational source, so the shorter your strap, the more sluggish your playing. In extreme cases of tall, high-water-mark-axe-wearing players an inability to keep time with their feet initiates a cumulative rhythmic staggering effect that can destabilise an entire band and create 'head implosion' where 'face melt' was the desired result.

Some mornings it just doesn't seem worth it to gnaw through the leather straps.--Emo Philips

I hate to admit it I nearly agree with the person on that board.

Straps do change the way you sound, or rather strap height does. I was a low slinger but now I'm a comfy player. I think my playing has improved because of it.

Straps...whatever makes you want to play. Personally I love 2 inch to 2 1/2 inch leather straps. Not that it changes the way I play, but for the length of time I can play before the strap bites into my shoulder and I have to quit. The old 1 inch straps nylon straps I used to use just dig into me, making me not want to play for very long.

Comfort is the spice of life.
