I like the look and feel of Maple better. Which type of fretboard do you prefer?

Interesting that you mentioned look and feel, but left out the most important difference between the two: tone. I generally prefer unvarnished fingerboards and dark wood, but in terms of tone, maple has a brighter sound and rosewood is a bit warmer and richer.

I have a fretless P-bass with a varnished maple board and a fretless Jazz with an unvarnished rosewood board. It actually works out well, as the maple board brings some highs to the P-bass and the rosewood adds some warmth ot the Jazz which has rounds and an Audere pre-amp. But to actually answer your question, I prefer the rosewood, but I think I prefer the P-bass neck profile.

How do you like your maple? Quilted or flamed?

BMW-KTM Thanks for putting the brakes on this one.

money4nothin, Search is your friend. I know you're fairly new, but this has been discussed/debated way too many times as well as nitro and poly, heavy gauge/light gauge, strap locks or not. DRRI or a HRDlx............. and boo hoo hoo you said something not nice about my gear you should consider my feelings. No offense.

All in all it's all fun and informative. Tip of the day.
Never take a comment about gear personally and always do a search first.

Don't worry about it, lol, that's nothing!

I once dared to bring up the old "removing the rear cavity cover improves your tone" remark, and was totally slaughtered

Take no offence :D
