Just to throw something a little different into the mix how 'bout 'Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights) by Pat Travers, also probably the single best audience participation song ever.

I linked a pretty cool, more recent version.

The dual lead guitar parts in "And Your Bird Can Sing" - kind of like this, although this is the solo part :

Coming On Strong - Maggie Bell

Almost everything by Chuck Berry had memorable intro's, most of them, the same one.

Johnny B. Good - Chuck Berry

I suppose one of the very first memorable Opening riffs as well but i could be completely wrong on that assessment

kind of an obvious one, but the opening of Stairway to Heaven is instantly recognizable. Also the use of contrary motion in the riff is pure genius. The bassline of the guitar part, and it's melody are moving in opposite directions, but they are married together by the pedal tone, so the motion is resolved.
Commonly contrary motion is used to create dissonance, yet in this it is melodic.

it is such an advanced concept. Page was a master arranger, and STH really was a masterwork.

we've all heard it a million times, so i think we forget about it.

Yeah raw power by the stooges has a wicked main riff, and I love the ramones, they kinda grow on you.
