Probably "Money for Nothing" by the Dire Straits. I love the build up...

"Poison" by Alice Cooper always struck me as pretty kewl.

For non-guitar intros I'd say "Never Been Any Reason" by Head East wins the nod.

Arjay

One of my favorite songs ( Head East's Never Been Any Reason ). One of my favorite guitar intros is Nancy Wilson acoustic on Hearts' Crazy on You

Not necessarily an opening riff, well maybe because the intro is long but the song Hallowed Be Thy Name by Iron Maiden has one of my all time FAVORITE riffs at 1:18.

Check it out if you're interested and have a chance.

There's a great song by a band named Vindictus that has an awesome opening riff. Its one of those few riffs that I've actually tried to figure out on my own. The song is called The March. Great metal song. When I first heard it I thought it was an Iron Maiden song.

The cool part is my dad works w/ the bassist/"vokillist" at his work. He's trying to find the CD this song is on and get it autographed for me. :D :D

Incredible into.

+1 on that.

I also like the almost epic opening of Zappa's "Peaches en regalia", particularly the slight off time where the bass and then the drums come in.
