We always talk about the same guys around here..SRV, Clapton, BB King, Robert Cray, Albert King, Gary Moore, etc…there are so many great Blues Players out there we seem to miss so many of them…Today I remembered Johnny Winter was the blues artist that first got me into the blues and wanted to give a shout out and show the love for Some Johnny Winter Music…… How many of you are fans?

Here are a few clips … hope you enjoy……I was thinking of Howlin Wolf and Guitar slim as well but did not want to over load this thread…….Feel free to show the love and post a vid of any blues player we usually don’t talk about here much but you think we will enjoy……

Bill, glad that you like Johnny Winter. He is one of my favorite guitar players. I saw him in London at the Victoria Theater in "74 (I'll look for the ticket stub, It may have been another venue there) then again in May or June of '80 at Beginnings in Schaumburg, IL. and the last time at The Vic Theater here in Chi '89. I watched those video's that you posted, they are great, thanks for posting them. Texas posted a few Blues artists and they are great too. When Johnny Winter comes to mind I always think "Johnny is one of the great rock and roll guitarists", so, I only have ! JW video on my youtube channel, here it is:

:D If there was any justice in the world, Johnny Winter would be revered as a national treasure. Simple as that. I saw Johnny last year and he can still send shivers up your spine.

Winter is a forgotten master for sure.

Does anybody remember "Johnny Winter And"? "And" was the name of his band.

Also, Johnny played the original Woodstock. If I remember correctly, he played a Fender electric 12 string strung with only 6 strings.

Yeah, life isn't fair or Winter would be held in higher esteem.

If it isn't a crime, I actually like his version of "Drown In My Own Tears"
better than Ray Charles' original.

Johnny Winter and Mike Bloomfield, along with Elvin Bishop don't get as much visibility as they should, imo.

Nice one SBLS, there is a 'Great guitarist' program currently running on the bbc, saturday nights and they showed this actual footage. Best vid of the night in my view, fantastic performance, real cool. 8)

Johnny Winter is an American Music icon. Nothing short of amazing. I can't tell you how many times I've seen him live. He still tours. He's pretty frail now and almost blind, but he's still amazing.
