Cricket is a sport, although I have no idea the rules or how a game of cricket happens.

Yes Bill it is a sport although not one i know that much about, a traditional English game where yer bat (made of willow) hopefully wacks a hard ball at which point you gallop between the wickets while the outfielders gather the ball.

Lead to believe its the first time in the history of this championship England have won.

The term "world cup" basically means teams from around the planet take part unlike some of the games played in the states called "world series" ??

No offence intended.

Just my 2 pennarth worth. Apparently theres another big shindig starting soon, Englands first match against the USA

Me, i use my "sport allowance" time to watch motorcycle road racing.

By seven wickets, too! :D

And of course it's only a compliment to our Australian friends to say how delighted we are to beat them, in particular! Let's crack open a tinny or two...

(Glug-glug-glug... Later: "Barmy army! Barmy army...!" )

It always suprises me that there is a world event which only includes participants from one country.

Anyway cricket is where that funny rounders game comes from. (just to further stir the hornets nest).

Only joshing.

Doesn't Canada play baseball too? You may still feel two countries doesn't quite make a "world series"...

BTW: even America now has a national cricket team. ...Not that most of them know it!

World Cup of Cricket?
I don't understand, is it a timed event, how many did the world record holder eat?

Well, for those who want to know the rules of Cricket, here we go :-

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's
in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the
next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out
comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those
coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. When a man
goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is
out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two
men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the
men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men
have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have
been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

- Colin Seymour

Thank you, it's as simple as that. :D
