This news was a shocker.

I didn't know that he'd been ill.

Thank you for all of the great albums, Ronnie.

Kick $@! singer. He was a big part of my personal soundtrack.
Later bro On to the next gig. That command performance in the sky.
Met him a couple times in Cali. Nice down to earth guy. None of that rock god pretencious crap.

Pretty decent bio with videos on Yahoo.

This one's going to be hard to get over. RIP RJD. It could very well be the end of metal. Doesn't seem like very many bands are dedicated or recognized for metal anymore.

I grew up in the day when Dio was hot on the charts with "Rainbow in the Dark" and "Holy Diver" News of his death left me numb and feeling like I was in a bad dream. Arguably THE greatest voice in metal has fallen silent, those of us who had the pleasure of seeing him in concert have a valuable memory, to you few I say cherish it well. Ronnie, thank you for years of great music and the gift of your voice.

I'm a HUGE Rainbow fan. For decades I've been listening to their Dio-era albums. Although I'm a die-hard Ritchie Blackmore fan I stopped buying his albums when Graham Bonnet replaced Dio.

The most incredible thing is I played "Rainbow Eyes" on my Strat earlier today, out of nowhere and for the first time, before knowing Ronnie had passed away. Made me literally cry when I found out.

R I P Ronnie. :(
