Interesting Idea

I think the baseball bat should all be one piece of maple and the glove being walnut I like then have the ball be the same piece of wood as the bat but painted

I saw John Fogerty playing "Centerfield" on this thing on TV a few months ago.

I too saw Fogerty using the "bat" guitar several times (for Centerfield) in the past. The concert I saw he changed guitars after every song. He's one of a kind! (In a good way.)

If you ever read the history of Les Pauls' development of the solid body guitar, he had the "log" guitar in the early stages, and then added 'wings' to make it look more like a guitar so it would be cosmetically acceptable to more people, so what you're proposing certainly appears to be feasible.

Better get yourself a Dremal and start carving. You need some sort of grinder (please don't buy a grinder) and a Dremal would have the ability to route pickup cavities (I've done it) with the right attachments. You just have to carve very light layers at a time.

I still think of that Extreme Home Makeover episode when one of the carpenters was making an American Flag carved from wood and took the guard off the grinder and nearly severed his fingers.

Please be very careful and wear all the appropriate safty equipment.

Hey, that Gibson looks pretty neat. Certainly more appealing than the Fogerty bat guitar a few posts up.

How about doing the mit portion by covering the guitar body in leather. I don't know if leather tooling is in your skill set, but that would be a cool.

Fogerty's #2 baseball bat axe was ruined in the Nashville flood, but he still has his #1 baseball bat model.
