I was just wondering really what people thought of the apps you can get for iphones for guitar playing.
I have only got 2 or 3 but they are really good. I have planet waves chord master and scale wizard and L&M Guitar for the tuner and metronome.

Hi eccentric0: I gave my iPhone to my wife cos I hated it. She's a smart lady and she likes it a lot, so who can say on that one...?

My brother-in-law is a good guitarist. He has an app that turns his iPhone into an ocarina, which is obviously extremely helpful. He also has several guitar type apps - I find I already have solutions to all those issues though. I don't need a phone to tune my guitars...

Cheers - C

I use guitar tool kit all the time, I wish the "apps" would work on my mac as well!

I have Planet Waves and L&M Guitar on my Touch ... both useful if I'm traveling "light" and don't want to bring the laptop, tuners and you name it with with me.

I just have a couple of tuners on it if I really need them.

i hate i-phones. i'm old fashioned. i work with a dude who never looks up from his i-phone. if something happened to his i-phone he would be totally lost. i threatened to kidnap it one day and i seriously thought he was going to freak out.
nope, i'll stay simple, old fashioned and i-phone illiterate. my job offered me one and i laughed. i still can't take a picture with my cell phone.

I'm happy with mine and have several music apps, all free ones...

I use the Strobe Tuner all the time, other tuner apps, chord and scale libraries, drum tracks...

Also use the built in Voice Memo app a lot and record my own guitar practice (because I suffer from 'CRS') :? and live music with it. It's a basic but remarkable recorder.

I hope y'all are enjoying your weekend,

n.

I have two on my phone, the first is that gibson app and the other is guitar reference lite. I just use them for chord references.....so almost never do i use them.

I have the Touch as well, and I have several free ones--I don't use them a lot, but there are some fun ones, and useful ones--like metronomes.

Premier Guitar magazine has a free one with links to articles on it.
I also have a drum set one--it's fun too.

And iRock Guitar is a fun riff thing.

I have one. I just recently got it when my contract was renewed. The only guitar app I have is the Gibson Guitar app and it was free. Pretty cool, it has a tunner, has some chords to practice playing, and it has some very simple lessons to view. I wish Fender had something like this for the i-phone. Generally I do not pay for apps, but may download one from Fender.

Mostly I use my phone for texting, making calls, and as an I-pod. I have all of Metallica's and Iron Maiden's music on it and still have a lot of room for more music. I can also plug it into my amp and jam along with any band I want courtesy of Youtube.

I have also use the phone during the day to check this site and leave a couple of posts during my lunch time occasionally.

Overall I think it is a pretty cool phone, do I have to have it...no. My last phone was an old flip phone. It was about 5 years old, so this I-phone is a definate step up.

I have iTab and Chordmaster. I don't know how to use the iTab app. Or maybe I am using it and I just don't know what it's supposed to do. Anyway, I don't find it much help. Chordmaster is an interesting and useful tool but only up to a point as it's library is not exhaustive. Also I find many apps don't operate exactly the same over both platforms. I have the iPod Touch (32) and the iPhone (32) and even thought they are both synced to the same configuration some apps behave differently.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I have the Guitar Toolkit and use it a fair bit. It can tune 6 or 12 string (plus a bunch of others like basses, banjos, etc.). It can also show/play scales or chords and has a metronome. It wasn't free but I don't remember how much it cost.
