I've been contracting to the same company for over 8 years now. But each project only lasts 18 months to 2 years. It's partly convenience (I get asked to apply for another project) and partly laziness (no need to look too hard somewhere else) that I'm still here.

Just under 18 years. Started with Merrill Lynch - got taken over by Bank of America about 2 years ago. I work in a print/mail facility. Our plant's work will be migrated out of state later this year. I've survived rounds and rounds of layoffs until now ... Worst case is a decent severance package and unemployment. I'm a lot better off than many, but I'm still felling pretty cruddy about the whole thing. Worst part is having a major role in the project to eliminate my job.
