Very tough situation, you want to help; however, you do not want to get him into trouble. You have been given some very good advise so far. I would let a teacher/guidance counselor/principle/school nurse...someone know what is going on. Be there for your friend. Good job getting them off drugs, but self-mutilation is a cry for help that can lead to a more serious action(s) on his part if left unchecked.

I hate to see ths turn into an after school special with a sad ending.

I sincerely hope all works out for you and your friend.
