So, does anyone know why on the product dating page, the most recent date it goes to is 2005?

I have a Jaguar bass, that was obviously not made until 2006 at the earliest, but I just wanted to see if I could get a better idea on what the manufacture date might me judging from the serial number on the headstock.

I'm sure it's fair to assume that if the trend stays the same, then I can proceed with the letters in the chart below to figure it out...

Crafted in Japan O + 5 digits 1997-2000
Crafted in Japan P + 5 digits 1999-2002
Crafted in Japan Q + 5 digits 2002-2004
Crafted in Japan R + 5 digits 2004-2005

therefore, S + 5 digits would be 2005-2006, T + 5 digits would be 2006-2007 and so on, or something along those lines as the dates aren't necessarily for every year, but I just want to make sure.

There are some irregularities. For example:

Crafted in Japan Q0 + 5digits 2002-2004
Crafted in Japan R0+ 5digits 2002-2006
Crafted in Japan S0+ 5digits 2006-2007

yeah, I know my serial number is something like T0 + 5digits. Crafted in Japan, and it is on the back of the neck right by the body.

so judging from your chart down there, it is probably 2007-20?? i'm assuming.

That is where I get confused, the T serial + 6 digits was Japan 94-95 but Crafted in Japan didnt start until 97.

yeah, and the specific guitar I'm wondering about is a Jaguar bass, which didn't come into production until 2006. However I'm assuming because it is a sunburst finish (which came out in 2008) that it is 2008-2009.

It's really not that important that I know the year... but it's something I would like to know if I still have it 30 years from now

Maybe posting the serial to Fender's consumer relations email could clarify. Sweet bass btw.

yeah just checked it last night.

T009033

So I think it falls into the T0 + 5 digits like the other crafted in japans after 2005... rather than the T(xxxxxx) which is supposed to be Tribute Series.

if the serial numbers have anything to do with years/months/number made like they used to, I would assume its probably a 2009. maybe the 33rd made or something along those lines.
