That and one called, "aluminum and fiberglass" (a piece of siding from a garage plastered on a wall).

Makes me want to puke...

Hey wait a minute...

Gets a glass bottle...

Were you totally serious about that wall exhibit because eww

I wish I wasn't serious. Sadly, it's true. I saw it and was disgusted.

Maybe you could make a wall of puke. It would look more interesting and artistic than pee.

i hate to be a killjoy, but if you are complaining about your tax dollars being used to finance this art exhibit i think your wrong. in reviewing public art funds website it seems there is a part where you can become a member of their organization by donating money. please see the link.

http://www.publicartfund.org/pafweb/donate/form.html

that leads me to believe public art fund works closely with the city but the art is funded through private donations. there is a lot of rich people in new york that are patrons of the arts.

I don't see where that particular thing they are calling art received monies from the National Endowment of the Arts.

Remember when art was an outward expression of emotion? Paintings, sculptures, carvings. Now it's a bunch of half naked women walking on a yellow box.

I guess those guys who wandered in were disappointed to find that there was no skylight...

Sometimes, though, I think that what's referred to as "art" these days consists merely of executing a concept of some sort -- it doesn't have to be a good one, sadly. Realising the idea in some concrete form is important, as to anybody who voices the objection "but I could have done that," the artist can respond "yeah, but you didn't, did you? I did."

The same thing happens in music all the time... I don't know why we're surprised...

Thanks for posting your drawing, perhaps you can post another drawing some time?

Now this is more like it. I found this gem ironically a mere block from the "walk the walk" exhibit while on my way to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Much to my dismay, no one was stopping in their tracks to appreciate such a magnificent thing of beauty displayed right before their eyes.

This is the real deal. A grand moment in fine art, eloquently parked on the corner of 41st and Broadway. The artist, unfortunately no where to be found to accept my much deserved praise, has not only captured the true essence of "walking the walk" in today's economy, but has managed to do so without the hoopla of a pretentiously overstated theme, without costing the tax payers a single dime in federal stimulus money, and unlike the mundane attempt of the attraction a block over, can actually sell this piece and make some real money.

All this while displaying such a keen understanding of physics, nay, the defiance of physics that would make even Sir Isaac Newton lust for a better understanding of the science he so passionately pursued. The artists only equal being that of the Grinch, but this piece is so good it is likely to inspire even the Grinchiest of Grinches to "feel the strength of 10 grinches plus two" and give Christmas back.

If I only had more time, I would have stepped into the Starbucks it was so brilliantly parked in front of to sip a double mocha latte-chino with the other connoisseurs of fine art and relish over this piece. Maybe I would have even found the Artist in there. I can only imagine how it looked poignantly framed within the large plate glass window.

Who was this harbinger of truth?

Thank you for your post. But I have to disagree. Yes there are lots of rich people in NYC, heck there are rich people all over. But are you aware of the NEA. National Endowment for the Arts? It is a federal agency that was created in 1965 and provides grants for various things such as art projects among others. It was able to retain its funding through the Federal Stimulus program.

Here you go... yes I know its a New York Times article but i found it fitting since its a NY paper and it leans to the left so its sure to be non biased

http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/ ... a-funding/

I really didn't intend for this to turn political... this was supposed to be humorous so i'll just leave it at that.

What a lot of captains there seem to be on the Forum at the moment. Is promotion to captain the next step after getting our sixth pick...?

Anyway. Carry on, men.
