Just wondering if any of you folks are a member or what your thoughts are. I know very little about it. One of the sales folks here is a member and he bugs the $@!& out of me with his latin emails about jobs coming in. Finally had to just ask if he could tell me in plain English if the Job is HD or SD. Not passing judgment on this feller, just wondering if this is result of an elitist old man who just loves to confuse people with his cryptic email or something else. I know he is a freemason so started doing some research and it seems pretty fascinating.

Not going to run out and try and join but just curious on that matter.

It is a kind of a Brotherhood/social club. The first freemasonary was just bunch of masons in europe protecting the secrets of their trade, hence all the sympols of masons and numbers. Today they use secrecy to kind of lure people in and make them feel like they are chosen to learn the secrets. But the secrets usually are somekind of teachings of "Brotherly love". They teach that "brothers" should respect all mankind and do their bits in helping the community around them. Freemason do a lot of fundraising for childrenshospitals and other projects that are good for the communitiy. A noteable Freemason often lays the cornerstone of these buildings, like when George Whasington laid the cornerstone in the House on the Hill.

One of few things a man needs to be a Freemason is a believe in "the Great Architect", whatever you call him (Lord, Allah, Óðinn...) and when you join you have to devote a part of your day to study the holy writing of your religion (The Bible or Koran etc.).

Lot of the conspiracy theories come from that secrecy. Brotherly love has for example been misunderstood for same sex sex. And the fact that there have been alot of powerful men in the freemasonary has given New World Order conspiracies some wings.

That said my dad is a freemason and lot of guys at work to.

Funny you posted on this subject as I just watched a show on the history channel last week that was 3 hours long on the whole history of the Free Masons that you would of found really interesting. It went on how they formed and that a lot of the founding Fathers were Free Masons and how there are all these secret references on the dollar bill and other currency that leads to them and secret hand shakes that would let another person know what level they were when they shook there hand. I found it interesting.

Very serious, the Free Masons. Not something to laugh about.

I definately would have liked to have checked that out. I'll have to go on their website to see if you can stream it. Thanks.

My late Uncle Stewart was a freemason- he was a highly regarded member. He took his secrets with him when he died in 1984, and told no-one about what he did behind the lodge doors...

I also dated a girl who's father was a head of his order- again, he kept his secrets. One thing that she told me though, he got spercial rates through his bank on savings accounts, personal loans etc...

The one thing I do know, freemasonary does not discriminate on where you fit in with society. A top member could be a school janitor for all you know...

I wish I was a freemason.. :)
