would buy a brand new 1959 Fender Strat

I would probably go with the strat too. :D

If I were to go back in time, I would probably try to stop some of the stuff that happened with my mom (but thats stuff I think is too deep for this topic...), but other than that I would either kick somebody's butt (like hitler), stop somebody from dying, rig the lotto, or.....

I would go back and visit myself as a young kid and convince my parents to let me play guitar when I was younger.

I wanted so badly to start learning guitar in middle school! One year when I was in the 7th grade and during Christmas, to my dismay, my parents ended up buying my older stepbro a guitar, telling me I was "too young" to play, and all I got was a stupid book....

Possibly the worst Christmas ever...

I would also like to bring an easy to play bowie songbook back from the future and give it to a young david bowie, I'm sure it would make it a lot easier for him.

I would Also buy a 59 Les Paul except i would make sure I bought one of the first off the line :)
And i would go back in time to prevent Nathan Gale shooting Dimebag.
The guy loved Young guitarists and put alot of money into helping them.

That's good thinking. And you could also show him pictures of Ceri posing around London so he'd know what to put on his album covers.

Now that I think about it, the implications of this would be huge. Possibly no SRV signature model guitars.... and thus everyone that has since bought an SRV signature guitar may not be a guitar player.

John Mayer has mentioned owning a SRV signature guitar. You possibly removed John Mayer from music. :o
I'm pretty sure SRV was working with Fender to work out the specs on his sig model.

Hi RR: there was talk of time paradoxes earlier. I have a notion you are the very man to appreciate one of my favorite time paradoxes - from the original radio script of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy:

FORD: That's it, they've started firing. At that distance the first beams will hit us in just over four minutes.
ARTHUR: What are we going to do?
ZAPHOD: Hold a seance.
FORD: What do you mean? We're not dead - yet.
ZAPHOD: No, but my grandfather is.
ARTHUR: Who?
ZAPHOD: Zaphod Beeblebrox the Fourth.
FORD: Is this relevant?
ARTHUR: The Fourth? Zaphod Beeblebrox the Fourth?
ZAPHOD: Yeah. I'm Zaphod Beeblebrox, my father's Zaphod Beeblebrox the Second, my grandfather's Zaphond Beeblebrox the Third...
ARTHUR: What!
ZAPHOD: There was an accident with a contraceptive and a time machine - but I can't explain it now...

Admit it: once in a while you've tried to work that one out, haven't you? :D Can you draw a diagram...?

Cheers - C

I'd go back and give Robert Johnston an AM Strat & 100w digital effects amp then jump forward to see where we went in the SS v Tube.

Beethoven a moog

Hitler a massive doobie and a strat on his 18th birthday and the lyrics to Scott McKenzies San Francisco

Give Moses another commandment "Thou shalt not declare war on any other Nation in any fashion other than a massive month long pillow fight"

Sorted

Clear Lake Iowa, February 3, 1959 and ground all air traffic for the entire state.

Hitler was already a drug addled hippie, you wouldn't change anything.
-failed art student
-weird haircut and facial hair
-drove a VW
-vegetarian
-addicted to drugs
-shacked up rather than marry
-believed in astrology

hippie

i would go back and get the Merle Travis by Bigsby.

then i would go back in time and release all of Elvis' and the Beatles catalogs a week before they did.
