We'll my dad never took me to any concerts. Everclear's Father of Mine song pretty much sums up my relationship with my dad.

But my first concert was Eddie Money when I was 13. Me and my brother went and saw him play in the parking lot of Great America Amusment Park in Santa Clara, CA.

Just turned 18 and i have split parents so...My old man whos only 38 -.- has been asking me to take him to gigs...Where did you end up taking yours? I Havent a clue:/

Hi ClassicRock92: is your dad into blues? I notice the Tommy Castro Band is playing the Phoenix in Exeter next Sunday night.

Or, on a different tack: The Damned are playing The Phoenix Wednesday 19th. He may be a few years too young for them - or maybe not. They're playing Princess Pavillion in Falmouth the following night too. Do they still smash everything up at the end of the gig, I wonder...?

Good to keep an eye on The Phoenix, BTW. I saw Joe Bonamassa there about three years ago in a room with about a hundred people. Zammo! :D

There ya go: question asked, question answered.

...Well, sort of. 'Course, it would help if we had the slightest idea what your dad's into...?

Cheers man - C

Though I gotta admit, I did a bit of Googling and the pickings were a lot thinner on the ground than I expected over the next couple of weeks, around the South West.

Hey, hop on the train and drag him up to the smoke, why not? In the next three weeks I'm seeing Joe Bonamassa at the Hammersmith Apollo, Mark Knopfler at the Albert Hall and Antonio Forcione at The Riverside.

I'm afraid that's a bit better going than the Wharf in Tavistock. (Where I also happen to have seen Bonamassa, though... :D )

BTW: in the course of my Googling I noticed the Cornwall Colisseum in St Austell is about to be torn down. Shock horror! Man, the gigs I saw there as kid... [Wistful sigh...]

Cheers dude - C

I took my daughter to her first concert back around '98 (she was eight). It was also at Hershey Park, and we saw The Monkees! She grew up listening to my music (Beatles, Beach Boys, The Who, etc.). We had tickets for a Beach Boys concert, but it was cancelled.

She listens to her modern music, but also has a love for music from my generation.

Hah! My first rock concert was Rush, Angel, and Max Webster back in 1976. I had my dad go and buy my ticket for me at the local headshop. He's extremely straight-laced, and couldn't believe all of the "freaks" that were in the shop!
