Yes.

Now, c'mon, these are quite different guitars.
Try them, buy the one you like best, you'll be happy with any of them.
If money is a problem, the PRS is half the price of the J5.
Sorry, it's a bit silly to ask us what you'd like better.

I'm with him! But not just for that reason, I do think it sounds nicer. Get down you local store and see for yourself!

Purple is dead on with his comment. You are talking 2 totally different type guitars and asking on the Fender Forum. What do you think they would say to get on the PRS forum. Go with the one you like and covers your needs.

Hmm, the tele looks flashy, the PRS more classic.
a 3 pickup guitar feels very different to strum or pick on, with wall to wall metal under your hand and close to the strings.

gotta play them, it's the only way.

Apples and oranges.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Way different guitars so it comes down to the sounds you are looking to get.

I'm with nick, you need to play them some to decide on sound capabilities, three pickups, wow! Different body woods i'd expect, neck radius? wheight? I'd be looking at all around playability, and run through an amp like my own. Different strings than what you are used to may also be a factor

I like apples better.

Thus I'd pick the J5 tele.

You are just gonna have to try them out and see what feels and sounds better…..I had the honor of test driving the J5 Tele two weekends ago and was pumped to do so…. After playing it for 5 minutes I did not like it; 45 minutes or so I realized I did not like it even more. sounded very good and fit and finish were top notch but just did not feel right to me. Did not seem quite as comfy as my strats do.. balance felt weird not something I would want to sling for a 2/3 hour gig.. at home on the couch jamming would be ok for an additional guitar for recording but a main gigging Ax not my cup of tea….BUT the only way to know for sure is try them out…

Cheers
Bill

Well... I think on the Fender forum, if people answered from the heart, the majority would say Fender.

I think on a PRS forum you'd find the same phenomenon but with the PRS as the outcome.

That means your best bet is to post on a Gibson forum. Should get an impartial answer that way!
