Anybody have any comment on or experience with Mighty Mite relacement bodies? I'm thinking I might get one for my 2009 Jazz bass. I'm interested in being able to change my bass from charcoal frost metallic to a natural finish.
Is it a good value? ($149 at Musician's friend)
Is it easy to work with (i.e. pre-drilled to work with 2009 hardware)?
Are there better replacement bodies available?

Thanks for the info, but....
I don't know. The more I think about it, the less I think I'll go this route. I think that if I want a natural finish Jazz bass, then what I'll likely do is get a Squier '75 Jazz VM and upgrade it. That seems easier, and I won't feel as nervous about modding that as I would messing with my MIA Jazz.

Hi Bathead: just a word to encourage you to be brave. Mighty Mite fill a spot nearer the bottom of the aftermarket than Warmoth, to be sure. But I've used a few of their necks and always found them good and reliable, though I am aware others might say differently.

Stew-Mac sell Mighty Mite's necks and bodies, and they don't want to be bothered with a lot of returns so presumably the QC is reasonably consistent on a commercial basis.

Assembling from parts is a cool way to go - give it a shot, why not?

And if you want a natural finish that is the easiest place to start, finish-wise. Choose whether you want to use polyurethane, automotive acrylic, or nitrocellulose, and then simply buy an aerosol or two of the appropriate clear finish. Shoot five or six very thin coats and presto, you have your bass, handmade by you! (OK, there's a bit more to the lacquering than that, but we can easily talk you through it here if you'd like.)

For modest money, take the plunge - why not? :D

Good luck - C
