This summer I'm planning on buying a new amp for my praiseband, but I been wondering whats a good amp between the price of 400-700 dollars?
Also, does wattage (15W, 22W, 50W, etc.) come into play on how loud the amp is? After all, I play in a church...

I use to play on a guy's Vox Valvetronix VT100. I believe it was a 100W (but you could adjust the wattage). Would this amp be a good investment?

Thanks so much!
-Jim

Fender Deluxe Reverb Re-Issue. 22 watts , good clean, good dirt. You can find used ones for 700.00, new 999.00. Great amp for the money, just my 2cents............. 8) Mike

Thanks :) Right now you're the only two cents I have... Seems like nobody wants to comment on any of my posts...

Price of being a newbie to the forum, eh?

+1 without a doubt. Reliable and great sounding amp. Used are fine. I'd steer clear of the Hot Rod series in general. The build quality on the DRRI is way better.

I felt like it was sour luck when I posted this because I was scrolling through the forums and saw Tanner's poll about whether to have all the noobs seperated. (though I can't stand the spam, but that'll always be a problem)

If that were to happen how woule we ever get advice from all the veterans like you?

Anyways, its going to be a while before I can get a new amp. I had my first job interview yesterday- going to be working a poolside bar & grille for my first job.

I wish I had the props (& chops) to be a active musician for the summer, but hopefully someday soon.

Also hopefully gas doesn't become an issue this summer too... :(

You should also check out the Fender blues jr. Best amp I've owned in a long time.

There are a lot better amps out there for your hard earned bucks than a Blues Jr. Try out a bunch and ash about how they are constructed. Most of the lower end Fender amp cabinets are made from pressboard/particleboard. Plywood is better, Birch and Pine would be a better choice.

jimbo612, if I haven't said welcome before then welcome Bro to the Forum. This is a tough question only because it is a fender Forum and such but I'll give an example (sorry Brad, forgive please) there are many other brands, at the shop that I frequent is a Avatar Traditional 2/12 cab Celestion speakers used for 200.00 a new one would cost 369.00, You could pick up a head for that cab used, it might not be a Fender, for about the same price. If you are worried about a sound in particular you will have to do some testing but a couple of used pedals (the shop sells 'em for between (40.00 and 60.00)and a string change and you will get your Strat or Tele to sound pretty close to what you need, all for near that 4-5 hundo mark you want to be around. We have a used Mesa Rectifier 2/12 cab for 200.00 and when I plugged both into a Marshall JCM900 the Avatar sounded better. Have fun shopping and experimenting.

Well I've been looking around for a while now and I'm really liking the small 15W amp heads out there. The top 3 that fall in your price range are the Vox Night Train, Orange Tiny Terror and the Marshall Haze 15 which just had a price drop. You can get these heads for about $450-$500. You'd need a cab as well obviously but those run about $200. The Marshall does have some effects which may or may not interest you. In your price range there is a lot of choice, almost too much but that's a nice problem to have.

I have played a Deluxe Reverb and it is the cats meow....I did not buy as they were a bit out of my price range. I did however pick up a Blues Jr. Tweed. I like how is looks and man I love how it sounds.

Good luck!!!
