Ah yes. My daughter saw her on TV, and since she loves all things guitar (and was particularly fascinated by a girl playing) I downloaded the CD for her.
In truth, not bad. Orianthi can certainly play. The songs are mostly like the pop/rock stuff that's all over the radio, decently written, good but nothing overly original. Her playing is quite good; again nothing you haven't heard before, but she certainly has chops. What's funny is that with the shredding, catchy melodies, and big choruses, her disc is more than anything a 2010 version of a hair metal disc, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
I would say that for me, Orianthi is a guilty pleasure, and not a bad one at that.

radiohead if you think about it Jennifer Batten said she played for over a billion fans as MJ guitarist and after her stint everyone knew who she was, and that helped her launch the job with Beck. There is no way you can beat that kind of exposure, and when it was over she would of been a super hot commodity considering her looks and talent. You know how rough things have got to be when you see a player the caliber of Nuno Bettencort being a sideman for Rihanna.

Last week i got guitar player magazine, & she was on the cover. I read the article about her & Micheal jackson discovered her on her myspace.
She grew up in Australlia & has been playin guitar since she was young, her biggest influence is Santana.
Shes pretty cool, i dig that shes a female guitarist(;
But i heard on of her songs called "According to You" & i don't really like it..its too pop.

Yeah she kinda reminds me of john Mayre in that there are some great Guitar skills but personally I can do without the pop Music…however she blows John’s guitar skills out of the water and I will be more likely to check out her stuff more often looking for something not as pop sounding.
