As long as you trust your Doctor's opinion and feel comfortable with the Surgeon, go for it.

I had Cancer surgery just over a year ago to remove a tumor the size of a paperback book in the center of my chest. They cut me down the center and across my right breast to remove it. ( Sort of wish they had done a cut over the left breast so that at least my initial would be there... :) Recovery was tough..lot of pain killers for about 4 weeks and not being able to lift over 5 pounds for 8 weeks. Imagine trying to play guitar with the body of the guitar rubbing against the incision points. A part of my right lung was taken out for precaution sake...yeah I have some problems with breathing like I used to but I wake up everyday and no matter what the weather, I am very happy to be alive. It sounds and is scary but medicine has advanced incredibly just over the last 5 years that you have to feel good just being alive in this time to be able to have it done and with good prognosis.

I'll be thinking of you. I'm new to this forum..just over a year because during my Chemo I needed to find something positive...so I began playing the guitar again after a many year absence. You were one of the first posters I read who just had that certain way of saying things that I liked and made me come back. I'm grateful to you for that and thank you!

Keep your spirits up no mater what. Know that others are thinking of you.
Keep playing too. Hitting those moments when everything sounds right and brings a smile to your face will remind you of why you are around.
