I had some testing and scans done over the past month or so and went in to see my Pulmonary Specialist today. He is recommending I have Lung Reduction Surgery. I have some tests that he wants to do first, but he believes the Lung Reduction will help me breath a little easier.
While I really don't want surgery (No one does) I'm thinking this will be a good thing for me.
I'm not sure when this will happen, but I will try to keep everyone up to date.

If it's got to happen, at least it sounds like an improvement for the long term - that's a good thing. Can I ask what lung reduction surgery entails, is it what it sounds like?

The top half of my lungs are basically non-functional. They are filled with air that is putting pressure on the bottom half which cause troubles breathing/catching breath.
Yes, it is surgically removing the top half of my lungs.

Sending MOJO your way, Chet! You've been busy!

Maybe why you didn't respond to my email of yesterday?

Good Luck Chet... This life is all about chances and the fact is if you don't take a chance on living you might as well be dead. God Bless

Wow Chet - that doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun...

Get healed up so you can get out here to Lawton and get the loose ends tied up. I'm looking forward to seeing you again! Like I said earlier, you can stay with me - plenty of room.

Keep us posted.

Chet, you are in my thoughts and prayers always. Please don't be upset with me for asking for a second and third professional opinion more for options other than surgery because 4 years as a medical technician taught me much but this you are talking about I don't know. I have read lung function can be improved, I want you to be healthy and happy, but I must know the other options Bro. Tai Chi, yoga, acupuncture, acupressure, passive or active therapy, hypnotism, a medicine man from the Sioux Nation, what ever your insurance will cover before the operating room, if the current recommendation stands, I'm with you.

Thank You for your concern. We are starting by doing tests we did last year to see at what rate I am losing pulmonary function. I will also be trying some Pulmonary Rehab in the next few months. My lungs are not in the best of shape and we have been weighing options. However with the amount of damage already done surgery looks like the only way to go at this point.
