I got that same bleep on that same phrase a while back, I had the same thought as you did.

Are you talking about the word spelled s and then l, o, p, e? I've had that word censored by the software a few times too. Bizarro! (EDIT: man, it won't even let me write it with hyphens between the letters!!!)

Someone educate me: is that a rude word somewhere in the world? What does it mean? To me it is just a surface at an incline - no...?

:?: - C

[Later] OK, no need - Nikininja just sent me an email explaining what that word means to some people in some places.

Fascinating thing, the international world of the internet, huh?

I keep learning new stuff on the Fender Forum... :D

Cheers - C

 I sometimes talk about "popping" out for something. 'Cept instead of using the word pop I use another three letter word - which is absolutely fine and inoffensive in our part of the world. I was most surprised to find that the software here didn't like it.

Till I saw one or two people here trying to use it to describe Japanese Fenders. Then I understood.

Lots of potential for entertaining misunderstandings in the realms of slang transfered from one country to another. I was on a bus in central London a while ago when two middle-aged female American tourists got on, slumped exhaustedly into their seats, and one remarked to the other; "Lord, my fanny needs a rest." The whole bus went very silent as everyone strained excitedly to hear what was coming next...

Er, maybe I won't... However:

Few years ago my wife's assistant was in the States and in a crowded room offered to show someone a photo of her cat. 'Cept she didn't use the word "cat". She got quite a reaction...

Mrs Slocombe rides again. :D

Ha!

The fact that you found a way to write the word slop with an e on the end just shows what you can do when you've got the inclination.

The settings on the automatic bowdlerizer don't make much sense. It blocks a perfectly innocent word like that while allowing me to write Wankel rotary engine with impunity. Scandalous!

Just another example of racism diminishing our liberty. You cant say this, you cant do that, you'll offend someone. All because some gang of knuckledraggers take perfectly innocent words and symbols and twist em to create obscenity or some false sense of national pride. My only real gripe with the BNP is their constant use of WW2 vetrans to promote themselves as a patriotic party. I know a few of them old timers that are horrified by it.

I bloody hate it. Now I'm going to NlP to the shop Thats down a SL0PE you could ski down. Whilst there I'm definately going to buy something that is slanted.

Sunny Scunny eh? I think were off to a hotrod fest up there soon.

I must say this censor program is both stupid and clever at the same time. It recognised my use of lower case L in place of I and the use of zero (0) instead of O.

[Groan...] RR, I'm deeply ashamed of how easy it was for you to find my, uh, level. It obviously wasn't a steep learning curve for you.

Have we plateaued, or is there more...? :D

I do agree with that. I briefly put a little cross of St George on the bottom of my posts on 23 April - whilst worrying that someone might think I meant something completely different by it. You know what I'm getting at...

Well, I would say I'm just ramping up, but things could go downhill quickly. Besides, I really need to go practice my scales.

Perhaps we should start a separate thread on puns & wordplay to give everyone else a chance. 8)

Don't know what a troll is exactly, if it's someone just popping in to have a look see to pick-up a bit of info I don't see a problem, thats what the forum is all about to my mind, not into this banning certain types that dissagree or don't share the same opinions as the majority, everybody's different in their own way, like others have said there are other forums / websites if youl'd rather not participate with a load of newbies, I welcome every and any opinion whether serious or joking, where would the music industry be if everyone played off the same songsheet , ultimatly boring without diversity, what if the next poster in the clique wanted a ban on reggae, punk, blues, rock, slippery road mate

Judging from the memberlist, half the people only make 2 posts and theyre outa here, so why are we complaining?

True, I reckon everyone should try looking up what member number you are on the member list- it will take you hours..

On the censoring, although I don't fling around racial epithets like confetti, and I think we should avoid words that are only used as racist slang, I think we give way too much power to fringe elements and the mentally weak by surrendering common words to them.
