What would it take to get you to join a road band full time- local or national level? Would you quit your job, would you leave your family, would you leave your dog?
Would you do it if the money was right, if the band was that good, and the lifestyle was acceptable?
Last time I was on the road full time, I made $400 a week and all my expenses were paid (meals at the venue only, travel, and stage clothes). I really don't know what it would take now. I'm too old anyway. I don't think they make hadicaped accessable stages (lol).

haha, i think I would have to make a lot more money than I ever did before on the road.(sometimes we didn't break even, but that's a whole other story.)

It would probably be nice to find a way to turn the clock back 10 or 15 years too.But I think i would do it, if i found the right project. Population density up here is a big issue for touring. In Canada you have to travel a lot more distance between gigs. When we played in the states it was much more financially viable, due to not having to drive 800 miles between gigs.

If it was a band I liked, that played music I liked, with people I liked hanging out with, then it wouldn't take much. :)

Been there and done that for way too many years. The band used to operate as a partnership and we traveled quite a bit and drew a weekly salary.

On the "plus" side - you hone your skills well and the band gets very tight. The money is decent, but no benefits other than tax write offs.

On the minus side - being in a hotel for a week in a place like (for example - Trenton, NJ) can get old very quick. You also get to see some of the real sleazy people that are out there.

If I was just starting out now, with what I know, I'd stick to recording and just hit the road to promote your music.

If my expenses were being covered and the rest of the band weren't complete wabs I'd do it, i guess i have low standards.

I was going to say it would take actual guitar talent on my behalf but that covers it too

I'd never leave my family for that or anything else for that matter unless it meant leaving them periodically so that I could improve our quality of life.

I am past that point, but I would jam for nothing with anyone just for the love of it.

I toured when I was young, now that I am older...just give me a studio and the occasional show and I am happy. I love the life I lead and have no desire to go back and tour... :D

If I could get a leave of absence from my job, and still keep my benefits I'd seriously consider it.
If it was to play for someone else, so not my own project that's being promoted, I'd want my expenses covered, and have some extra to pay for real life stuff, and I'd like a guitar tech as well.

But it would also depend on who it was I would be touring with--it would have to be music I enjoyed playing.
