Well, i've decided to not immediately go into the army, but instead go through college and do ROTC. I'm going to a local community college first, then to SIU(Southern Illinois University) which i've heard is one of the best schools for aviation. Once i'm out of there, i'm going to try to become a helicopter pilot in the army. From there i'll either go career or become a pilot. not sure yet.

just thought i'd share :D

Jake- That is wise. You're making the system serve you. The only way to fly.

That's what I did. I enlisted in the Army's Delayed Entry Program in November of my Junior year of High School. After graduating in June 1978 I had 2 whole weeks of freedom before going to basic training.

Funny story: The night before I left I was out partying with my friends. The recruiter was picking me up the next morning at 5 to take me to the Induction Center. I woke up with a terrible hangover, and had him pull over on the highway so I could "empty my stomach". At the Induction Center you go to different stations and do paperwork, turn your head and cough, and other fun things. While everyone else went out to a free lunch on Uncle Sam, I stayed behind kneeling at a toilet. After lunch, at one of the stations I sat in front of a psychiatrist, and he asked me if I had any problems with drugs or alcohol. I looked at him with my bloodshot eyes, reeking of vomit, and said "Nope". What a memory!
