For guitars I like many brands--including Fender--My Fender is even from the supposed "dark period" of the 70's, (CBS era and all) and I love it.

My Fender amp is a G_Dec Jr--a fun little practice amp--which is what I got it for--a small light amp I can move around the house easily and sounds good. It's a lot of fun.

A friend of mine had a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp that was quite nice as well--and it was form the supposed "Dark period" too--it's a "silver face", considered a low period--but I'd like that amp.

I also have a Roland, a Traynor, and a couple of Garnets--I have both tube & SS amps--I like them both.

Fender is neither my favorite nor my least favorite company--but I like the Fender stuff I have and would have nothing against getting more.

Now go ask this on the Gibson forum...

Max,
I've got a Made in Mexico Stratocaster and a Fender Blues Junior 15 watt amp. I don't play well because I'm a beginner at 47 but I love my Fender gear and have fun practicing. I hope this helps you with your report.
Thanks,
Tagg

There are two types of people in this world:

Those that divide the world into two types, and those that don't.

Here's an excellent article that sums things up nicely. I have posted this before, but it's definitely worth a read:

What We Can Learn From the Fender Stratocaster by Wayne Greenwood

Leo Fender was not a musician, but he knew enough to listen to the people who played his instruments and to make changes based on their input. He also understood that a modular design would make the guitars easy to maintain and repair. This modular design also allows the musician to tailor the instrument to make it truly his own. 8)
