Has the band you're in made a cd yet? Did you do all originals or covers or both? Has your band benefited from that cd in terms of popularity, getting more gigs, or being able to raise your pay and play nicer venues?
The reason I ask is because the band I'm in made a cd of the singer's original tunes, and the only people buying them are friends and family. Bar owners really don't want to hear original tunes when you're trying to get booked somewhere. It really hasn't helped or hurt us yet.

My experience is that wise club owners want to "see" and not just "listen" for a variety of reasons (overdubs, not actual musicians, etc).

That said, a website, or even a myspace page with linked videos might get you where you're going a little quicker?

Good luck!

We have a myspace site (www.myspace.com/thebuckshotband2009), and an old video. We work a lot, every Sat night, but we're always looking for better places to play. It seems we can't score anything locally-this town is a Blues and off the wall Rock town-no room for Country. We always end up going at least 40 miles out of town or more to get gigs.

Some clubs have different (genres) types of music on different nights and weeks....if you can show them a site with lots of people at your gigs and having a good time....it could be a good selling point.

Facebook is another way to show your following. Like this :

Miami brings up a good point and the last band I was involved with that played all originals, I was not a member though I was asked to join, but had fun sitting in on practices and was good friends with the guitarist and manager which is why I stood involved. Anyway whenever we boocked a club we got as many friends to show up as possible-which was a lot, the first time they would play and always have everyone ask is- (insert your bands name) playing here tonight on the way in which always got more bookings.

what we did is make a cd of what i call snip-its. we mixed original and covers but did not play the whole tune in it's entirety. this was done by one member who was gifted with recording equipment. hope this helps.
