Our local dealer has a couple of American Standards in - one SB/RW Precision and one white/RW Jazz - so I decided to try them out. They are just superb and they really made me think again about what I want from a bass.

To cut a long story short, the good news for my dealer is that I am picking up a SB/RW American Standard Precision this week and selling on my trusty G&L SB-2 without too much regret, excellent bass as it is.

I really cannot justify another Jazz but if I was starting again I would be ordering a sunburst/rosewood American Standard as I could not believe how good the current model sounds (compared to a 2001 USA Jazz I used for a while).

So, well done Fender - the claims for the new Am Std basses are, in my opinion, compellingly true.
