I went to my local guitar center today and as i walked in i noticed a '72 thinline telecaster that looked eerily familiar. upon further investigation i noticed that it was the thinline i had returned last month because it had a variety of issues i.e. a sticky pick guard, bad fret wires, a cracked nut, and very bad pots.. i received this guitar as a gift from my fiancee as she knows nothing about guitars she did not notice the problems. ANYWAYS the guitar was purchased in February 8th and i received it as a gift for my 24th birthday on April 2nd and returned it the next week because of these issues, well today as i'm looking at this guitar in the store i noticed that they were selling it as new for full price after it had been sold and kept for two months. unbelievable what people will try to get away with

Anything to make that extra buck I guess but that is pretty shallow especially if it still might have problems.

Second story with the exact theme and culprit in 2 days. I have never bought an ax in GC but if I ever do unless they have a sealed one in the back that I could play to take with me, I am not taking anything off the floor.

I think that the Consumer Protection Agency might be interested to hear about this.

Thats why you register a guitar with manufacture soon as you get that way a new owner can not do so. Then they wonder why.

There is nothing wrong with made in Mexico Fenders. they're cheaper because labor is cheaper in Mexico. who cares if it's made in Mexico or made in America. it's still a fender guitar that has quality written all over it when you buy American made you're paying a lot for how much they have to pay the workers at the corona factory this whole MIM sucks is a load of $@!&, i own and play several fender guitars, including many American and Mexican models, i have an American standard telecaster and my thinline blows that thing away in sound and playability. the bottom line is yes, fender America does make some GREAT guitars but in the end you're paying a lot to pay the workers salaries. The made in Mexico fenders are just as good as the American but since labor is cheaper down there the finished product costs you less money

Back in 2000 I was looking to upgrade my MIM Strat to a MIA Strat. A local shop had a 2000 American Series Texas Special Strat at a low price and marked as a "clearance" sale. The salesman said that it was new, but the pickguard sticker was removed and you could tell that it was slightly used. Even though they lied about the guitar being new, it was a great deal. I paid $649 for that Texas Special, and a brand new one was going for around $950.
