Meh, not really.
I get them for free whenever I want, the store I go to, gives me them since I'm a good customer.

Damn, I need a pick thats gripy

I use them all of the time and I'd have to say that a nice new one has somewhat of a textured feel to it but I wouldn't call it grippy by any means. I've seen picks with definite bumps or groves to improve grip but the tortex is not one of them. Knowing you and what you need I don't think that it would work for you Riley. Just my opinion.

You may want to try V picks, they are apparently the ultimate in "Grippyness"

But Tortex isn't slippery either--you can hang onto it.

They are not slippery by any means they just don't have pronounced grips on them. To describe a new tortex feel I'd say...picture a pick that has a extremely fine grit to it. The color is softened by this process...think of brushed steel and that frosty look and texture to it. I don't know if that helps but it's the best description I can come up with.

You might want to try a Pickboy Carbon Nylon:

Image

The texture is about the same as a Dunlop Tortex or Ultex but with the grippage. With these picks a .60 thickness feels about like a .90 of a regular pick as far as flexibility. This one looks like it's a Pickboy Edge pick. Sharp profile. I love these picks. They're kind of a cross between a Regular and a Jazz pick. Slightly smaller than a regular size and bigger than a Jazz. Nowadays I use either these or Dunlop Ultex Sharps. The Ultex just doesn't have the grip, but I like both either way.

Like the looks of that one, similar to the dunlop max grip

Riley... ever try something like grip tape for a skateboard deck? You can cut it and stick it on a pick where you grip it. Might be a little rough until you get used to it. 8)
