I always like to keep a lookout for a hidden gem online that some pour soul might not know what they have...and I may have found one. I was hoping that if anyone out there had a personal experience they could share it might be helpful to me for making the decision. It's about 50 min away and not sure if I want to take the trip if it's going to be junk.

The dude is selling a Hondo Revival Les Paul.

From the net I have derived that it may have been Japanese, but probably Korean. It also likely has Dimarzio pickups in it before they made it big. Bolt on neck,Grover tuners, and made in the early 80's.

Anyone out there in Fender land ever come across one of these guitars?

I never thought I'd see the day the words Hondo and gem appeared in the same sentence. Some of the mid 70's ones were ok'ish, good for the price in them days. Most were junk.

It's worth a look cos you may love it.

So Iwas wrong...I checked it out and it was trash.

I was kind of going from reviews online that I found like this site...

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Electric-Gui ... paul-2.htm

The quote that got me was "The market for Hondo Les Pauls has grown greatly over the last five years and continues to do so. As the interest increases so does the value. However, people either love or hate the Hondo guitar. The Revival was better than the stock Hondo Les Paul models. As for value, it could be worth anywhere from $400.00 to $1,000.00 depending on condition, modifications, original parts, etc."

As I said it turned out to be junk.
