Does anybody else think Fender needs to make a Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat? I know they have those ones that pay tribute, but it's time for a Signature Strat. Hendrix is probably one of the most influential players to ever play a Strat, so he I think he deserves it.

If Janie allows it, sigh.

There have been many tribute ones in the past but I think that a Hendrix signature Strat should be a staple of the Fender catalog. That said many people have also stated that Hendrix was never tied to one Strat, he'd pick one up anywhere and use it so it's not like he'd have something that you'd be able to spec out to get that real artist series touch. You'd basically be buying an off the shelf upside down Strat with some period correct pickups in it.

I doubt it is going to happen anytime soon. Does everyone forget that there is bad blood between Sister Janie and Fender. After all she went to Fender first before the disaster at Gibson and probably demanded ownership of half the company. If you really think about it there is no bigger name that goes with Fender than Hendrix and there is no way Fender would not of wanted that contract so you have to imagine just how outrageous her demands must of been for Fender to have to pass. I think she missed one detail though =that she needed Fender just as bad. I would rather eat $@!& if I was Fender than to work with her ,let her go somewhere else as we all have seen where that road has led. Jimi took his music very seriously and was a perfectionist as anyone who knows the story with Dave Mason having to do about 3 hours of takes just to get the rather simple acoustic opening to All along the watchtower to Jimi's satisfaction. That is why I do not buy all these albums that have been put out since his death because a lot of the songs were not finished and besides who knows what Jimi wanted to release. After the well has dried up she will be looking for any snippet of tape that there is with him on it, maybe one day there will be an album of him tuning his guitar. Anyway you look at it she is not getting my money.

Very well put. The mothercorp that is Experience Hendrix is another world in itself. The mess that his estate had become is as interesting a story as there is. She is unscrupulous to say the least. I'd love to hear an album of his guitar tuning trials and tribulations. I'm sure that Jimi could make even that sound musical  :D
